Wasn't just supposed to be on the album, but was actually the direction the album was supposed to go from what I recall from the interview about this song. Which was way more Illmatic 'pt 2' imo. As opinion on this album is still very divided, I think things would have been very different if they went with this one.

yeah I was reading awhile back, the album was supposed to be dark but labels didn’t want it that way. The producer of this tracked basically explained what happened. He said he still has this track in his vault along with another unreleased nas song in cd quality but said he would only release it with NaS permission. I was hoping this would of landed on lost tapes 2 but I know Nas don’t forgot all about this track.

Yup I was shocked how good this album was on first listen. After hearing how disappointed it was. And how Jay said Nas only good album was Illmatic.
