Well I know the Aviano is fire and Vicenza isn't that bad, I can't speak for the Navy, but I'm pretty sure your going to be alright. Italy is alright man, Southern Italians are chill as fukk. He's not the most glamorous of areas of Europe, but the females actually have ass out there in Sur. I am actually disappointed I didn't go down there more often, since I was always complaining about wanting a thicker broad. You can go everywhere pretty cheap. @Rayzah
Cool, I am coming from Qatar, so I think it will be paradise compared to here.. I will be working on a navy base, but living in town somewhere. whats the cost of living like?

In Sur it should be cheap. You'll get COLA so it'll offset a lot. Utilities suck because Italians send the bills when they want. And it can get pricey. Prepaid phones are encouraged. Their plans are awful. The Euro is dropping so it makes life easier. If you did 6 month contracting job it's going to be easy bud. Learn some Italian. Italy is one of the few Western countries that don't speak it everywhere.

To be more complete, that South/North ambivalence is present in many countries surrounding the Mediterranean sea (France, Italy, Spain, Greece...). I think it's more about being from the sunny Mediterranean culture (chill, good food, heat, friendly etc.) than actually being Southerner. France also has that kind of dichotomy with Northerners being cold and focus on their own business while Southerners are more open and friendly. If you look at Maghrebi people and how they interact, they are also on that Mediterranean vibe and are closer in their state of mind to Southern Europeans than to Northern ones.

100% correct. That's why I laugh when non-Europeans say stuff like "Euros are all the same", there's prob more difference between an Italian and a Dutch person than between an Italian and a Tunisian. Hell in Belgium Italians were heavily discrimated against in the 50-60s (some cafés had signs like "Forbiden to dogs and Italians").
