Kobe should have two/three mvps. He's hated by the media and the mvp is a media award.

Kobe should have won in 2003.
Stats: 30 ppg on 45%, 7 rebs, 6 ast, 2 stls
Record: 50 wins, 32 losses (0.610% percentage)

Tim Duncan who won MVP in 2003
Stats: 23 ppg on 51%, 13 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl
Record: 60 wins, 22 losses (0.707% percentage)

Kobe should've also won one MVP during the three peat. Problem was he and Shaq took votes away from each other. Kobe should have won in 2001 and Shaq should have possibly won a second MVP in 2002. But instead they gave it to Duncan and AI.

Cats act like Kobe was robbed in any year that he didn't win MVP. He just played in a stacked era and had to contend with guys like Shaq Duncan Dirk Pierce AI KG T-mac etc. for votes. And peeps wanna say that he should have won in 2006 when he averaged 35 a game but T-mac averaged 32 a game in 2003 and led the sorry Magic to the playoffs that year. And no one cries about him being deserving that year.

They should just create a "Most Outstanding Player" award and have the players and coaches vote.

Let the media keep their MVP award;
it hasn't meant much to me since I realized that Kobe and Shaq will end up with the same amount as Nash.

Relatively speaking, a back-to-back MVP not making at least 1 NBA finals is a shame:francis:
Kobe retiring with 1 MVP isn't that bad; his 2x FMVPs are a fine consolation prize:ehh:

Why is no one mentioning the 2007 season MVP. I agree Nash may have had the edge over Kobe in 05, but I feel that Kobe had a better season in 07 than Dirk Nowitski who won the MVP that year.
Nowitzki led the Mavs to 67 wins, tied for 6th most in league history, which is 25 more wins than Kobe's Lakers squad. Prime Dirk was an MVP caliber player and he deserved winning it in 07, and even in 06 he had a great argument. If there was a Most Outstanding Player award Kobe would have been my vote for both 06 and 07 though.

Shame there isn't because that'd fix the problem most have with the MVP award.

You can't be serious with this. I got respect for T-Mac but you should at least make it out of the first round of the playoffs before you can be considered a potential MVP winner.

Also, when Tracy was playing in the early 2000s there was always a player in the league that was better than him.

He was never the stand out star player in the NBA at any point in time.

Obviously the injuries didn't help him out either

I am not going to just overlook people saying that "Nash took 2 MVPs from Kobe" shyt because it's so blatantly false and shows the bias and lack of detail exhibited by you Stans. Seriously, how are you going to argue the results of a vote when you don't even know what the results were?

Players on teams that don't win 50 games just don't win MVPs. That didn't suddenly come out of nowhere just to fukk Kobe over, there is a long list of players on fringe teams who had great seasons and didn't win an MVP. Kobe got the scoring title for his efforts.

Let's put it this way, are you mad that Kawhi Leonard got the finals MVP award over LeBron last year?

...AND KOBE STILL GOT 22 FIRST PLACE VOTES ON A 45 WIN TEAM. JUST SHOWS HOW MUCH BETTER HE TRULY WAS COMPARED TO NASH.

I feel like Wade had a good chance to win MVP in 06 as well.

I guess there was just a influx of talent in the league back then.

Nash had 57 first place votes. The voters disagree with your stance so I'm not sure why you're co-signing them.

IM CO-SIGNING THE 22 VOTERS WHO HAD KOBE 1ST......BECAUSE THE MVP AWARD IS A POPULARITY CONTEST, AND THE CRITERIA IS SKEWED..........IT WAS NEVER REALLY SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST PLAYER ON THE BEST TEAM. THE MEDIA STARTED THAT NARRATIVE AND RAN WITH IT.......IT'S JUST THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. THATS ALL. BUT SINCE MOST PEOPLE THINK LIKE U, "OH MAN IT HAS TO BE A 50+ WIN TEAM", THE DUMBASS JOURNALISTS WHO VOTE FOR IT THINK THAT WAY TOO....BUT NOWHERE UNDER THE CRITERIA DOES IT SAY THAT THE MVP SHOULD BE ON A TOP-TIER TEAM. THATS WHY PEEPS WERE TALKIN BOUT WESTBROOK AND DAVIS FOR MVP THIS YEAR......BUT THE NARRATIVE WINS OUT, AS USUAL. THATS WHY ITS A JOKE OF AN AWARD TO BEGIN WITH.

And with Bron averaging 31 7 and 7 that season and Nash balling out too not to mention AI averaged 33 a night that year to. Which means Kobe wasn't the stand out star player that year either. Point blank any season he didn't win MVP there was always a candidate with just as good if not better resume.

NASH HAS 2 OF HIS MVPS.......IT'S ALL GOOD, THE MVP IS NOTHIN MORE THAN A POPULARITY CONTEST ANYWAYS. KOBE WOULD HAVE AT LEAST 3 IF IT WASNT FOR THE RAPE TRIAL.
Kobe Bryant wasn't even in the MVP discussion during the 2004-05 season, so just shut up with that one; if that was going to anyone else it was Shaq. And if anybody had a great argument to get that 2006 MVP outside of Nash it was probably LeBron.

Kobestans have used that narrative more often than anyone.
