OK. I remembered that original post because a younger relative of mine was going through at the same time. Since then, I've tried to tag you in stories/threads related to the topic. My point was to show that others had gone through it.
Most recently, the surviving members of De La Soul were interviewed with Basquiat's sisters. Both of those late artists received pushback , and Pos and Mase joked about Dave's (ENTIRE) family holding a council about him wanting to be a rapper....in 1987.
If music is in your soul, and you have to express it....then by all means do that. What you seem to be talking about is being able to monetize your art, and that takes a LOT of mental and physical energy. Again, no disrespect, but seems driven more by commerce than artistic passion. Nothing wrong with that, but extremely difficult to have a real life occupation and be trying to break into show business on your own. Something has to give at some point.
