Care about Billboard stats in a hip hop argument, brehs (especially given the recent "platinum for everybody!" rules)

You have no idea what you're talking about. It's incredible :wtf:

Your "known rappers of the 90s vs known rappers of the 2000's" comment has nothing to do with sales? What metric are you using to determine who's known, their level of respect in the culture? Mozzy got respect, so much respect that his albums, music and merchandise literally flooded the streets WITHOUT A DEAL. What is Jeru doing without a deal? What has Jeru done since he got dropped from Payday? Again, no shade towards Jeru as he's a great emcee and has my respect but your comments are removed from reality. Mozzy doesn't got an album as critically acclaimed as Jeru does but then again, what do the largely white-ran Hip Hop publications and media have to do with a Hip Hop argument? :sas1: Vince Staples' last album is a critical darling, does that mean he's known now?:sas2:

Yeah. I'm part of the grand east-coast conspiracy, similar to white supremacy :laff:

Cmon bruh. You gotta do better than that.

Your posting history speaks for itself :manny: Maybe you should make a West Coast appreciation thread to switch things up :mjlol:

This is just a microcosm of todays society in general. Its seems like every generation becomes more dependent and immature

If you know anything about the culture, you know about Jeru. Dude had a writeup in the biggest hip hop magazine in the world and had a full album with one of the most respected/in demand producers of 1994. Took shots at Biggie and had Big respond to him on a legendary album.

You're either playing dumb or you're a fraud. Which is typical behavior when you wanna deflect from the topic at hand.

Pages later, all you've done is showcase that you're a wack rapper who likes other no-name wack rappers who are probably friends of yours while unable to provide a single "they on par spitters" receipt for the known ones (Mozzy, Vince Staples).

Keep thinking SirBiatch has a plot against the west coast though :umad: Whatever makes it easier for you :salute:

The most misguided quote is confusing someone who is "well read" versus someone who is intelligent, has always been a confusing conundrum. If you read a book, or heard a speech, or engaged in conversation with someone who is giving you information and you regurgitate the info, is that really intelligence?
How we perceive intelligence often depends on whether we agree with you or not.

The rambling struck a nerve apparently. Mozzy and Vince Staples been written up in every Music and hip hop publication there is for the last two years, specifically about their lyrical ability and their ability to connect with a large audience despite that they're not dumbing it down. You're rambling about cultural recognition and playing dumb that these aren't two of the most culturally recognized young spitters in the game right now. If your ears were to the street you would already know that or maybe you do and you're that much of a hater to deny it :mjlol:

Receipts were provided for everybody I mentioned all through the thread, mozzy and vince staples included. You must have missed it while you were rambling.

More receipts of your bias against the west coast

The educational system was better in the 70's and 80's and honestly most of those rappers were sons of either Revolutionary Black Panther types, Muslims or both which really stress the idea of having knowledge of one's self and self education outside the confines of a White Supremacist system.

This is a great point, a lot of that was definitely lost for folks growing up in the 90s and 2000s

"Broken home, all I had was my homeboys
Either build or destroy, what you going for?
Just a pawn in a plan tryna hold on
When the smoke clears why was the war fought?
Bout time you abandon the folklore
How you rich but your bytch in an old Ford?
How you black selling crack for the white man?
How you real, wouldn't kill for your right hand?
On the stand sworn-in with your right hand
It was all going good till the rave end
Knife scars on your neck from your best friend
Now it's talk, keep a tech on the nightstand
Every nikka dead to the world till his life end"

"Ferragamo on me still saggin' when I buckle him
Grab the plate, draw a single file line and snuffle him
bytches be in love with me, I don't love 'em bytches though
Cattin when it's spunky so I had to let them nikkas go
Livin' grounds critical, flockin' at your physical
It's deeper than the punchline and tryna sound lyrical
You don't wanna live like this, my life difficult
It is what it is, I'm all in and I ain't trippin' though
Murder was the case, that's what all the shooters sittin' for
Still slide for my brother Zilla Zoe everyday
Pour baking soda in the pot and let it marinate
Snitchin' is a style now, nikkas wanna narrate
Dope spot barricaded, task force Tuesday
Macintosh hangin' from an Airforce shoe lace
I was Jay Jonah'd up on every back to school day
Nookie nikkas just a new addition to the food chain"

IMO it also has to do with the reign of the different regions. NY was dominating so the quality was higher.

New Yorkers just appear to be more intelligent...or at least way more coherent than their Southern counterparts. You can have two different rappers spit about the same topic e.g crime and one will give you introspection...sharp observations...wit...crazy wordplay and the other will mumble some simple Dr Seuss shyt, chant a hook and call it a day lol.
