There's an intersection with this kinda thing, where class can cut one way and race another.

I find it to be absolutely true.

Mainly because classism exists and has existed in countries with almost homogeneous populations in terms of race.

Dr. King went into great detail about this while he was alive. Go re-read or listen to his speeches, he was a big supporter of this view.

At the end of the day, an poor/Middle Class America and a poor/Middle Class Iranian will have more in common with one another than the wealthy, greedy people who run our governments and industries.

Yeah, but most of the people participating in the subjugation of mine don't look like me. Race and class are distinct fields, but they can't be talked about separately in most cases. We aren't all in the same boat. These problems are too complex to be simplified down into any one original problem, including class.

Fair point, it might be a combination of different circumstances in each location, but I still feel deep down that human society has always been about classism.

Power is one thing, but class is only one manifestation of power relations, isn't it? Just look at the relatively economically homogenous societies (say 20th century "Communist" states) in recent memory, or look at European slavery- why go all the way to Africa when more profit could be made from enslaving the serf class in Europe?

I feel like a lot of people have made this argument from different directions. I've heard feminists say that gender discrimination is the most ancient and entrenched kind, I've hard Marxists say it's class, I've heard others say it's race, and so on. I'm not convinced any of these are really fundamental because different societies present so many different configurations of all of these.

1. Upper class and lower class black males can share struggles that's what makes race a factor that's linked beyond class.

2. Also an oppressed group can be oppressing other groups--a group of oppressed men can more sexism / gender bias than upper class men, etc. So it's not just about oppressor vs oppressed.

3. Class and money aren't the same, nor are class and power. A politician is upper class in one way but broke as fukk compared to an entrepreneur with middle class society and values

I feel you are playing semantics. Power/Classism are equally related. It's a pyramid structure. This structure has existed in Capitalist , Communist, Socialist countries for as long as humans have recorded our history. New, undiscovered tribes have social structures.

I mean, I can understand why we do it. It's better to delegate responsibilities and oversight.

The fact you bring up serfdom is a perfect example of what I mean. The parts of the population that felt they were being stepped on by the top, revolted. This caused them to seek labor by other means. I'm not saying that racism or gender discrimination aren't factors, I just feel they are secondary factors.

Beyond government though. harvard professors or major journalists 'upper class'. Kobe Bryant is way more wealthy than your average harvard professor or major journalist. class is a funny thing that way. In fact when capitalism in its current form first started out it crashed the system in this weird way where the aristocrats were broke compared to random seafaring merchants

2. "Group" can be interpreted as euphamism for "Class" at least according to the accepted definition:

There are just as many white people living in poverty within the United States as there are other groups of people. Subjugation is not limited to one form of practice.
