They cost about as much as a high end 1080p set now. Some are even under $1000. A few years ago these things were $4000+ If I didn't already have so many HD sets I'd cop a 4K one for the hell of it but I would need to sell one of my 1080p sets first and TV sets are worthless on resell value.

You wouldn't have much use for it right now tho, you got 4K movies downloaded my nig?
And supposedly these TV's dont have the newer HDMI standards which will be mandatory to accurately stream 4K content (or so I've heard)

But, I seen them for as low as 700 on slickdeals. I can post up the deals for you if you really interested.
Might not be valid anymore, but they go on sale every month. black Friday right around the corner too
Expect them to be plentiful in the coming weeks

4K will be the standard in a few years.
Netflix And Amazon Prime both have 4K content RIGHT NOW
And they plan on adding a lot more next year, but still not the full catelog

To get it, you have to pay $12 a month instead of $9
Unless you tried to watch 4K content before Aug.12 of this year, then you would be grandfathered into the 4K upgraded plan
You can also stream to 4 TV's at once instead of 2 like it is now

For now, 4K content is relatively limited, with supported programming including TV shows like “House of Cards,” “Breaking Bad,” and “The Blacklist.”

And here’s another caveat; not all 4K TVs are supported by Netflix. Your television has to be a 2014 model (or newer) that features an onboard H.265/HEVC decoder to access Netflix’s 4K content.
The XB1 will eliminate the need for the decoder above :win:

That's good news but it doesn't make sense to cop one if you have a TV that outputs 1080p. There isn't enough 4k content yet to justify the purchase.

Agreed, but for people with HTPC (PC connected to TV) they "could" make use of it :manny:
But I don't think too many ppl are gaming in 4K either.
Only reason I could see why someone might get one NOW.

I'm still looking at 3DTV's with 240hz or higher. But I guess a 3D4KTV for $700 is what I'm waiting on
Maybe one year from now...

If you're in the market for a new TV the 4K ones cost about as much as the better 1080p sets so why not? Especially if it had HDMI 2.0 on it and the proper codec to stream in 4K.

Yeah, but the reason its still better to wait is because in 1yr that TV you got from Hi-sense will be shytty compared to what is available then

Since there isn't much 4K content, its not really a must have right now. Its a splurge buy
Smart money would wait on this. But if you got money to blow and you wanna watch House of Cards and Breaking Bad in 4K? Then be my guest :manny:
