I'd buy this no problem. It's a few hundred more than I paid for a 1080p set.
ThisHappens with all technology. And 4k is useless until tv shows and movies regularly output it.
Breh find me a 3DTV with that Smooth Motion shyt on the lowAgreed, but for people with HTPC (PC connected to TV) they "could" make use of it
But I don't think too many ppl are gaming in 4K either.
Only reason I could see why someone might get one NOW.
I'm still looking at 3DTV's with 240hz or higher. But I guess a 3D4KTV for $700 is what I'm waiting on
Maybe one year from now...

What is all this hoopla you talking about?Be very careful if you purchase one because it MUST have hdmi 2.0 to support upcoming 4k blurays and a lot of tv's cant even stream netflix in 4k because they don't have support for the new codec netflix uses. Also, for my pc nikkas only the gtx 970 and 980 support hdmi 2.0 otherwise you MUST use display port to get 4k 60hz at 4:4:4 chroma, which is a big deal. Panasonic is the only 4k with display port that i know of, so that's really your only option.

haha I'll break it down. The current hdmi all of your devices have doesnt have the bandwidth to show 4k resolutions at 60hz with full color. So they came out with a new version of hdmi called hdmi 2.0 that outputs enough bandwidth for all of that. There's also another type of output that has more bandwidth than old HDMI and it's called Display Port. High end pc monitors use display port and high end PC graphics cards have display port outputs. So if you have a gaming PC and want to do 4k you need either a video card that supports HDMI 2.0, which only the nvidia gtx 970 and 980 have or you need a tv that has a diplay port input, which only Panasonic makes on their 4k tvs. Also netflix and amazon have 4k streaming but they are using a new codec called H265 and a lot of 4k smart tvs don't have support for that codec so they can't even show netflix or amazon at 4k.What is all this hoopla you talking about?
My geek level ain't ready

Oddly enough the breh ps4 is cool unless he's talking about Xbox for some reason.
Yeah, but 4K TVs dropped in price MUCH faster than the first HDTVs did. I think the lack of demand is the main reason.Happens with all technology. And 4k is useless until tv shows and movies regularly output it.
You wouldn't have much use for it right now tho, you got 4K movies downloaded my nig?
And supposedly these TV's dont have the newer HDMI standards which will be mandatory to accurately stream 4K content (or so I've heard)
But, I seen them for as low as 700 on slickdeals. I can post up the deals for you if you really interested.
Might not be valid anymore, but they go on sale every month. black Friday right around the corner too
Expect them to be plentiful in the coming weeks
