Like, deep into the mid-2000s I'd say a good chunk of people still thought a lot of that Jet Li shyt was real and not just for the movies.
Pre-2000, it was practically conventional wisdom that some 5'2 120 pound bald monk from china could knock out Mike Tyson by hitting pressure points and shyt . We all just assumed that those Steven Seagal/Van Damme fight scenes had some basis in reality and that there were people out there that really could take out 20 goons with some flying kicks.
Idk, its just crazy how many word of mouth/urban legend myths survived right up until the social media age.
