It's crazy how Silicon Valley used to be the poster child for 'good' capitalism

Power has to transfer or rotate.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Wait. What was the point of this thread?
To contrast how Tech was viewed from the 1970s-1990s to what is has become now in fact and public consciousness.

Just how the framing of Tech Capitalism to the younger generations (and many bought into it) has been shown to have been not only bogus but that they are worse than the previous oligarchs. Tech capitalism was supposedly about harmonizing the business profit motive with genuinely making tech to improve lives and staying out of politics. Bad stuff happened but usually the get rich quick schemes and vaporware were it. This peaked during the Dotcom bom.

Outsourcing from India didn't really pick up until the 2000s and up until the 2010s or so when the social media folks opened the lobbying arms in DC, the only real political involvement of Tech had been the MSFT antitrust trial. The liberals (like Jobs) and the conservatives (like Larry Ellison) didn't really aspire to national political power and influence. They didn't even meddle in Cali politics all too much. This new generation that came up through the Dotcom boom has basically become the WOAT sociopath oligarchs with madmen aspirations of power and control.

Outside of small merchants I really don't think that many "businesses" actually exist. Many of these things get to the point where they begin to get, and then inflate fed contracts to stay alive, which means they have just privatized government. Which means they have made it less efficient.

All their conservative ideology, "economics", will lead us to this moment, as it has led in the past. Im realistic that this will happen again, but optimistic in that it'll be caught earlier in the future.
