Gospel right here. I don't know honestly if I've had the former with my ex. But I definitely had the latter. It was more of an ego thing than anything else, like telling yourself, "She's going to leave me?!? And go to what? How can anyone feasibly be an upgrade over what I offer?,". I feel confident it is more of the latter, because I felt more emotions after we broke up than I ever had actually being with her, even though I really did like her.
