No disrespect....but you're not as special as you think you are when you travel abroad. Unless you do something blatantly dumb or disrespectful to cause attention to yaself, no one's gonna care to target you. You won't be the first foreigner to visit whichever country you are thinking. People need to use this logic rather than thinking they are automatically a target once travelling.

Traveling by yourself can be scary. Has nothing to do with feeling special or not. I'm paranoid in the US going out at night and I live here.

It's smart to consider those possibilities, IMO, no matter where you are.

Actually people target female tourists who are alone quite often...they're an easy mark.
