ya i didn't get that thread either.

there's male bonding that happens during sports that's natural. going to "war" with guys out on the floor or field, there is a sense of togetherness that develops. a quick pat on the backside, NOT a grope or a fondle, is a physical acknowledgement or expression of it. not easy to describe, but that doesn't mean it's gay.

reason is doesn't happen off the floor is that the intensity of the moment is gone, and we go back to handshakes and back slaps. during an intense game though, the emotion of the moment, a dap is not enough, which is why we see chest bumps and all other kinds of physical contact, including a smack on the butt.

now if you are doing it to an opponent, then it's a way of sonning them, which is something else altogether like a mind game
