sorry, I dont believe in this garbage. defenses win games. a good defense doesnt require a great qb to function.

and kaep has a floor, he wont just unhinge and be someone like kyle boller who continuously loses games by himself, Im pretty damn sure

once a defense is good, a team is competitive.

cant have an utter bum at qb but theres plenty 'good enough' qbs to complement this D

That's the biggest reason for the decline, the defense. With Bowman and Smith being out, and losing veteran corners, it was obvious from pre-season the defense wasn't going to be as good thus the team as a whole wouldn't be either.

You couple this with the fact that Kaep wasn't running anymore, then the 49ers lost their strongest weapons: the defense and Kaeps running threat.

If you fix those two things then the 49ers are back in the run soon enough.

Well defense actually was still great. Offense is the one that stuttered. I believe if harbaugh wasn't so stubborn and fired roman he'd be still coaching. But yeah we have so much talent it'll take either lots of injuries or major fukkups to become a weak team again, imo

nah. we'll be fine.
vic said hes staying. and he actually wants to be the hc :leon: not sure if thats good but as long as that man is coaching our D and as long as our D is healthy, we'll be fine

we just had most of our defensive starters out for most of the year on D and had the offense performing its worst since 2007. and we still went 8-8 and lost a few close ones.

oh shyt :lupe:

I wouldn't be too mad at this. He's definitely deserving of it, and we could keep Tomsula by promoting him to DC. Also the existing field of candidates isn't very inspiring. It would just mean that we really need to hit on our OC choice.

What's making me question whether this will happen is Baalke/Jed. They obviously want a subservient company man at the HC position, and Fangio doesn't seem like that guy. That's why we've heard Tomsula's name so much.

Read somewhere (I think Bleacher Report) that Montana and Young were pushing for the Niners to hire Shannahan as HC.

I get the reasons (Former OC; WCO; etc), I just don't know about Shannahan. I think his time is over. I'd rather go with Fangio, tbh.

How did this end? How did one of the most successful coaches in the NFL end up basically fired?

People close to Harbaugh portray him as increasingly becoming disgusted—that was the word used by several team sources—with the 49ers front office.

This takes some careful explaining, and some of it is nuanced, but based on interviews with several sources close to Harbaugh, his departure from the 49ers came down to three main things:

  1. His love of Michigan. Self-explanatory.
  2. The behavior of his players. Several 49ers players became national news for alleged crimes, some of them ugly. One source explained that Harbaugh came to believe the behavior problem among players in the NFL is "almost impossible to fix." I've also been told—but still have been unable to totally flesh it out—there was a great divide between Harbaugh and the front office on how to handle players in trouble with the law. Harbaugh believes that in college he'd have more control over those issues.
  3. He wanted total control

TYRONE GA!
it is what it is.

now if fangio goes on to become a head coach elsewhere...I can see problems happening. the worst possible scenario is us hiring a bad HC AND losing fangio
still, I dont see how this team will fail long-term because theres so much talent its crazy

Gotta keep Fangs at all costs....ALL fukkIN COSTS!!!

if it means making him the highest paid assistance, so fukking be it.

I didn't know Marrone at Buffalo had an out clause...... :patrice:

shyt, even Trestman...... :patrice:

i do t want shannanan, I was not impressed with his time in Washington and I feel like his fallout with rgiii and the type of QB he is will carry over to his approach with Kap, dude wouldn't even give him a fair shake.

player behavior? I really doubt that's it, especially since the rift surfaced back before the draft.

I agree with @Rekkapryde , I would've given him personnel control even if we just agreed to test it for one year. We had terrible drafts in 2012 and very mediocre in 2013 so might as well given him a shot.

Jed will live to regret this. The guy has achieved more than 95% of the coaches in the league and you let him walk over personnel control? Wtf? Basically, he picked baalke over Harbs and that is retarded as baalke hasn't been all that great.
