Yes and no

You have to have sustained levels of greatness to reach that level. The difference between the likes of Kobe, Bron and someone like Karl Malone is that they got it done in the postseason the vast majority of their careers as well

It's still EXTREMELY impressive to do it in the regular season year on and year out
Well, you're proving my point even more.

Malone is #3 all-time and nobody even utters his name amongst the greatest players in history. Again, historical total records are more feats of longevity than anything else. They don't speak exactly to how great you are at scoring (which applies to Malone here who's not even a top-20 scorer in terms of ability/impact), or how great you are for that period in which you scored all those points (which applies to nearly everyone who's ranked).

Of course, in general terms, it's impressive. Making the league is impressive, in itself. I'm talking about the bigger picture here.

Which is why the very first sentence literally states "yes and no"

The reason why they don't discuss his name among the goats is because of the lack playoff success.. it's not because of anything else.

If Malone had a chip or 2 he'd be considered a top 12 all time player

There was really no reason for you to quote me, is what you're saying.

And his lack of playoff success had a lot to do with his inability to score in the pressures of a postseason environment, which again, proves my point even more. He's the #3 scorer of all-time, yet struggled to score when it mattered most [in the playoffs], so him being ranked that high is more about his longevity than it is about him as an actual scorer.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
I don't think any of those historical total records are that impressive, as they're more longevity accomplishments than anything else. If you have the benefit of playing long enough, you'll naturally climb the ranks. It doesn't necessarily speak to how great you are, but more so how long you've lasted. Where the mark is set now, Cap was a shell of his former self and lucky to still be be in the league; it wasn't as if all his points came when he was at his best.

The fact that when Bron will surpass him, he'll still be one of the best players in the league, is what makes this feat impressive.

Even if Bron is surpassed in the future, I doubt it'll be from someone who lasted that long at the top.

So what you're saying is that it's better to have her climax early in lieu of working that puss on a marathon tip.

Malone is consistently ranked top 20 but rings are important, unfortunately for him, his peak as far as the team having its Peak was during the Jordan era.
He's also one of the most boring both on and off court characters of all time.

Him or Barkley are always the only cats without rings who might make it to the top 20.

With tonight's 30 point output, Lebron is now 765 points away from Kareem.

At roughly 26.5 points per game this season, he needs about 29 more games to do it.

29 games from now puts him at Golden State on Saturday, February 11. Of course, it figures to be a few games after that given he will certainly have games off.

I suppose if he was really focused on the optics and possible narrative of it, he might try to boost his scoring to break the record on January 31st at Madison Square Garden. But that's highly unlikely unless he drops some 40 and 50 point games in the next month.

the game changed into a 3pt contest, Reggie's putting up wild numbers in today's style, even Bron would admit to that, he aint that delusional lol
