It's official: Game of Thrones is the most hurtful entertainment experience I've ever had.

It never made sense for them to kill off the ProTag (Jon Snow) without completing his character arc or finding a suitable replacement/expy for him, so when they did and immediately brought him back next season it was a sign they were reaching for content and shock value. If death doesn't matter in a show were multiple people are killed regularly, it takes away from the impact. They wrote themselves into a corner there and found a cheap way out of it. When writers start doing that, the drop off in quality is beginning.
To be fair, Jon’s death is straight out of the last book. We don’t know how soon he’ll be brought back to life but it’ll have to be quick.

I feel the same way, I was reading books, watching YouTube theories, playing GOT mods on every game that had it...

I haven't done any of it since the end of season 8.

I really hope the book comes out soon and delivers, I miss being a fan boy.

I did not even think it was that bad. Just the way the white walkers turned out and bran being king turned me off.

I doubt that there will be a tv show as big as Game of Thrones in our lifetime. Like op mentioned everyone from hood nikkas to suburban soccer moms were heavily invested into this show for damn near a decade. I expected the discussion around this show to last long after the final episode but it's kinda faded into oblivion. :ld:

yup. shyt was like DragonBall Z levels for regular TV land. Anybody and everybody was watching and discussing, to the point nikkas started acting like it was a badge of honor to say they never watched it.

Hell, Styles P was on hot 97 dropping in depth discussion during interviews.

D&D fukked it up so bad in the last season that they won't even do interviews in America/Canada. Facetiming interviews while hiding in Japan nshyt. :francis:

I’m not saying the show didn’t follow the book, I’m just saying killing of THE ProTag before they fulfilled their story arc reeks of shock value because you know they are gonna bring him back, which makes the death inconsequential. There are clever ways to do things like that and it wasn’t done poorly, it’s just that it shouldn’t have been done at all. When I see things like that in storytelling it’s always a red flag for me because of what it tends to foreshadow

They way they did John the Snowman:what:

The way they threw away the entire character development of Jaime:snoop:

That’s how Cersei dies:why:

They kept too many people alive :upsetfavre:

The night king:deadrose:

Showed no real build up to Dany going Mad:aicmon:

shyt was a disgrace ......

Add..

Lightbringer & Azor Ahai never being mentioned again

Arya spending all that time to get back to her family...for a few days before leaving them again.

Arya never telling Jon, Bran or Sansa that she killed the people responsible for betraying & killing half their family...the main reason she wanted to be an assassin, this huge ass plot point is literally never even mentioned.

Jon telling his family he’s a Targaryen...off screen.

Bran being told that he will fly....but only as a crow

millesandre struggling to light the fire when Jon is literally sat on a dragon on the castle wall

That Fight between Euron & Jaime

Not only Did Jon’s whole arc get thrown out when Arya killed the NK, but we didn’t even see them face off...not once

3 perfect shots on a dragon in a row from a ballista on a moving boat 1 episode, can’t hit a dragon for shyt with 50 stationary guns the next

Sending an entire army to their death first before using the dragons

Dragon fire being able to blast through a magically enhanced thousand year old ice wall, but not some debris from a castle Jon is hiding behind

4 random ass white walkers randomly strolling around inside the castle library when there is chaos outside, and being trapped by a wooden door when we literally just saw them burst through stone crypts 5 minutes before

Cersei not killing Tyrion on the spot outside of Kings landing and letting him speak, and walk away when she ordered a hit on him only a couple of episodes before.

Bran going from making it known he has no need for titles and that he isn’t even Bran anymore..to apparently plotting to be king all along as Bran The Broken, and letting thousands of innocents die in the process

Varys entire character, intelligence & personality being assassinated over the course of just 1 episode, they destroyed Tyrion’s intelligence too.

Grey Worm killing anyone who is a threat to their queen, except the one person who killed the Queen, they locked him up for some reason

Drogon not killing Jon on the spot for no other reason then to have him survive

The build up of the Golden company as being the biggest army in the land, only for there to only be a couple hundred of them that are wiped out within 5 minutes

Trash, sloppy, lazy ass writing, I could keep going for a long time too :francis:

Had there ever been a final season that was great?

Sopranos = trash
Wire = average
Breaking bad = average
Office = trash
Got = trash
I agree with all of this apart from Breaking Bad, the last season wasn’t as good as the rest but was still at least good.

Yeah this one hurt a lot. So many hours of discussions, telling friends they have to watch it, all for D&D to ruin the GOAT show. Everything else was perfect. The sets, the actors, the CGI, all gone to waste bc of horrible writing.

I look back on my 2014 self like :huhldup:

I was out there tellin folk "Its the Sopranos of fantasy:noah: The writing is on another level. Best show on TV:ohlawd: You're missing out:ufdup:"

Now if they ask me about the shyt I just shake my head:aicmon:

The way I look at it, the only way it could have been more memorable is if it was some next level incredible shyt which those dudes were incapable of doing without the blueprint of GRRM.

The fukkery that the wackness of the last season lead to. Not gonna lie had a ball :wow:

Gonna miss the film room threads them shyts was classic :sadcam:
