What kills me is Boylen was brought in to avoid these problems and help on defense and it seems he doesn't have a real effect.
I think Hoiberg just benefited from the college system. Not saying it didn't take skill but once you're a good program it tends to stay that way for a while and you'll automatically get good players outta HS.
i think that is the poor make up of the roster, moreso than boylen
garpax tend to only get players that can only play on 1 side of the floor. they suck at adding 2 way players. then what makes it worst is some players who can only do things on 1 side of the floor aint even elite at doing it smh.
we went a period of time where the defense was top 5. and i think its still top 5 in defensive shooting percentage. but i would hope our next gm would do a better job at getting more 2 way players. especially role players. you can have a star play 1 side of the floor because of them being elite in scoring etc so it makes up the difference. but role players need to be 2 way in order for your team to contend.
far as fred, it just doesnt take nba caliber players that long to understand a offense. as you were alluding to, these players been doing systems for coaches since grammer school. nobody can convince me that hoiberg schemes are so damn complex that it just confuses the novice. im starting to feel hoiberg system just doesnt work. ball movement is literally 90% of what nba offenses have. dude just might not work on this level, and we stuck with him for 4 more seasons. smh
