This kinda stuff always follows Jay, but I wanna see receipts before believing this based on the "crack dealer" shyt :stopitslime:

What receipts do you need? Look at Tidal's subscriber base and compare it to the streams those albums allegedly racked up in a week. 250mil off less than 3mil total subscribers?
:francis:

Apple probably did this with Drake too btw...we'll see.

Other than those just by skimming through it I found the first error in this scientific report, which is just super basic sql queries btw, they say one proof of manipulation is that it's impossible to play songs at the same time with 1 user. Neglecting the fact that you can actually be 3 people on one user ID with offline mode. This should be very easy to google for anyone conducting a scientific study.

Or this one
Figure 2 shows a steady number of log entries in the first period, until a significant spike on 2016-02-14 until 2016-02-23. The steady number was between 9-10 million, while the spike is as much as 52 million log entries on 2016-02-14. This results in a 477.78% increase of log entries in just one day. This is almost inconceivable and as such is suspicious.

This is consistent with what we see in the dates which are not affected by the sudden spikes in playbacks. For example, 2016-02-13 had about 10 million paybacks, while 2016-02-24 had about 20 million playbacks. Thus, 60 million playbacks for the two suspicious spikes cannot be caused by the system users alone.

The Life Of Pablo being released for free and increasing Tidal plays significantly is suspicious? Haven't we seen that albums always drop 60-80% in the first week? They are comparing Rihanna to Beyonce and Kanye, the big difference is the two latter had a free option, which they randomly neglect in this comprehensive study. That's why pure data geeks are wack, you need to understand what you are analyzing or at least bounce ideas with them.

I did find the 3 song pattern interesting though, they might have something on that. Either that's fraudulent on the behalf of Tidal, the Norwegian journalists or Tidal's system was overwhelmed by the new users and rounded in multiples of three. The latter might be true since I note that they are not attributing those plays to Kanye, but the total play.

No doubt, the whole streaming numbers culture we're in now is suspect as hell

Im just not feeling the source and the implied bias of how 1) they're going after the small fish knowing damn well this is happening elsewhere 2) the pseudo racist shyt they may have said in the past :yeshrug:

Not defending Tidal cause I've been critical in the past, but they also had free trials n shyt going on that may not reflect the current subscriber base

You linked some no name site. Nobody cares breh. If Tidal go down they all fall. Basically Tidal will never go down for this. Personally they all fudge the numbers streaming services are a free bank to labels. And Jay playing both sides to get that paper as he should. nikka a born hustler.

I was all in till I read that. I think a lot of these streaming numbers seem suspect..... But as soon as the petty name calling came in it seems awfully strange. Let the data and results speak for themselves.

Maybe Apple or Spotify paid this man to go all in....
