i don't get the Dragon Ball hate. The writing has indeed been complete ass since the Buu saga with the exception of the Goku Black/Future Trunks arc in Super. I liked the idea of Zamasu.
But the run from 22nd Tenka'Ichi Boudoukai arc in Dragon Ball all the way to the end of the Namek arc in DBZ is pure piff. Storytelling, characterization, fights, pacing (ok it dragged a little during the Namek arc, esp the Goku/Freeza fight), everything was on point. That run is the whole reason we still talk about DB damn near 40 years later. It wasn't deep, but it wasn't supposed to be deep. It's just an adventure / fantasy/ martial arts show.

The problem is DB fans act like its the only GOAT anime of all time and they wrong. Yes DB gave birth to beacoup anime and manga types...but it aint the only GOAT.

Yeah, this run was definitely peak dragon all. You had some of the best tournament fights in the 22nd and 23rd Tenkaichis, you got the first serious world-ending threat (Piccolo Daimao), Goku’s coming of age (the 23rd again), the revelation of his heritage (the Saiyan arc), Gohan and Piccolo’s character development, the Goku vs Vegeta fight, the race for the dragonballs on Namek, and Goku becoming a super sayian. On top of that characters like Piccolo, Krillin, and Tien were actually a threat back then. Legendary run.
The Cell saga was cool too but too much of it relied on the heroes messing up. Future Trunks is still that dude though.

Just got back from seeing it.
Man, dubbing has come a long way. I was a bit put off seeing it was 3D animation but it allowed them to sync all the characters mouth movements with the dub which was cool. This also allowed more natural english voice acting. Folks used to avoid dubbing because it was pretty bad because part of the reason why back in the day it was stilted is that the dialogue was written in a way and acted in a way to minimize the sync issues with the character's mouth movements. So, good design decision there.
As far as the movie, it was good mindless fun. Forgettable though. I don't think I watch it again but a good movie to pass time. I just wish I had a kid to take with me because I'd imagine they would think it would be cool as shyt lol.
