If you study back far enough, Africans were all that was on this planet. And we understood certain things about the universe. Our Egyptian ancestors had what we in present times refer to as the 7 laws of Ma'at. In other words, if the universe were a math equation it would have these 7 constants. One of them is the principle of gender.
The principle of gender implies that everything that exists period is made up of feminine and masculine components.
So gender doesn't start with humanity, it just has its manifestations in us just as everything else on every other plane of existence. So women don't define femininity, they are merely the human manifestation of the feminine principle. And men are the human manifestation of the masculine principle.
No matter what plane of existence you study, masculinity and femininity possess the same characteristics. Masculinity and femininity come together to create the whole/an entity/a unit. Masculinity maintains the structure of said creation. Femininity is the vessel that ushers said creation onto that plane of existence.
Protecting/ defending is the same as maintenance. You're maintaining creation/Ma'at in the face of all variables.
Your cells spot a cancer cell? They immediately seek to destroy it, because that is how Ma'at is maintained. They don't say "don't hurt the cancer cell, he/she's one of us!

And they've taken part of the functionality of males and put it institutions called "police" and "military", outlawing any male not a part of those institutions from carrying out his nature- given inclinations. Men are essentially neutered from birth.
