Thing about Mahomes and KC is they still elite at situational football. They got a blueprint where they lean on their defense and keep the game close. When the other defense get gassed Mahomes can make enough plays to win at the end. It works because their main competition in the AFC always seem to have some combination of stupid coaches and average defenses. Smart roster strategy too when you got an elite QB taking up that much cap space. Easier to reload and stack talent on defense than offense when you picking at the end of every round in the draft.
