He's as non-mainstream as Kendrick or J. Cole or Big Sean or Biggie or Pac or Wayne or nearly any rapper.Bruh. Even Yo Gotti has a Top 40 record with Goin Down in the DM.
That doesn't make him mainstream. Meek is not mainstream (or at least he wasn't when DWMTM dropped)
The mainstream outlets and fans know him more for this been with Drake and relationship with Nicki than his own music.
A non-mainstream rapper selling 200k + is very impressive
He's as non-mainstream as Kendrick or J. Cole or Big Sean or Biggie or Pac or Wayne or nearly any rapper.
Who the fukk is non-mainstream and enlists Weeknd, Drake, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, Swizz, John Legend for their songs, has their own sneakers, are all over mainstream radio but are not mainstream artists? Is Meek Mill the special one?
By what metric are you judging Meek's likability/popularity?
His followers went up. His fame went up. His music hasn't suffered. Every time he drops an EP he breaks the mymixtapez website and the internet buzzes. He withstood a meme barrage from the hugely famous 50 Cent and his devoted stans and has been declared the winner of this round of his been vs Drake by the internet nerds and publications.
You sound like a disingenuous cleaner doing damage control. I have very little time for bullshyt. *Ignored*
Kendrick and Cole did not have top 40 or gold singles before they released their debuts and did 200k .Meek's only top 40 songs ever were RICO (largely due to the Drake situation) and All Eyez on You (it's a very good song but Nicki and Chris Brown are the draw)
Big Sean, Kendrick, J. Cole and Drake have had top 40 singles and/or Gold singles on all of their albums. That's mainstream success.
Meek is not that. So for him to move 200K+ units is an accomplishment.
The whole shyt that makes this funny is why is Drake getting credit for out rapping Meek WHEN THE nikka OUTSOURCES HIS PEN which is what sparked the beef and was proven?Meek fans got shyt fukked up. More people wanna see Meek win than lose. The problem is Meek continuously out here taking L's from a nikka the streets want him to give one to more than anything which is twice as bad. Meek should never lay down and take it but why fight if you keep losing? And by losing I mean musically and lyrically.. He clowned Aubs for having a ghostwriter then got out rapped by him, then dropped a mediocre ass response months later, then tried to bring his money making into it in an attempt to shyt on Drake when drake is making more than he is
Meek is a walking L but let's be clear... Only a select few actually want to see him lose. A lot of cats are shytting on him cuz he shoulda won this war a long time ago. The sad reality is Meek will never win, because it will take bars which he doesn't really have
Kendrick and Cole did not have top 40 or gold singles before they released their debuts and did 200k .
And Amen went gold, so your theory is even invalid according to your own set of rules.
Also having a hit != selling records, ask Pitbull and Florida.
If you have commercial endorsements through your major label contract, you are a commercial artist. If you enlist the biggest people in the game to support your album, you are commercial. If you have big people on all your singles, you are commercial.
So Jay-z wasn't been commercial for 10 years between 2004 and 2013, since had no solo gold single since in that periodYou haven't disproven my point.
Meek is not a mainstream artist and for him to sell as well as he has is an accomplishment.
The only time he sniffs mainstream success on the charts is when he's got a mainstream artist like Drake, or Nicki and CB on a record.
So I'll say it again because this is the comment that started our conversation.
The fact that he's a non-mainstream rapper that sold more than 200K out the gate in this era refutes @Ms. Elaine 's statement that no one likes Meek.
