His main claim is he is being the prince of the most powerful race in existence, and he really means that. His actions have shown it over and over again.

Also, Vegeta is willing to kill. Superman is not. Even when the threat is an existential threat to existence itself, Superman will seek a way to stop it without the killing blow. So in that regard, Goku and Superman are more alike. Still, even Goku will kill if it is the only way to stop something catastropic from happening.
