Muay Thai because you are more versatile.

Although I would argue that you should attend a boxing gym for at least a year so you can learn how to throw a proper punch.

People always lean towards MT instead of Boxing, because of the versatility, but how does a MT guy stand against a boxer? If all I care about is getting my hands nice to fukk up the average person if need be, wouldn't MT be a waste of time?

Muay Thai and boxing are better for the streets. BJJ is an excellent skill to have and great for sport fighting, but wrestling on the ground is not the best scenario for the street confrontation as you're vulnerable to strikes from the 'shadows'. Muay Thai and boxing can help you over come odds if you're out numberd by 2 or 3 to 1. You cant guillotine or kimora more than 1 person, highly unlikely

True. My concern is that if I train MT and run into a boxer, ima get uppercut into the ceiling on some Martin shyt due to the fact that their focus is solely on striking.

But I suppose one could argue that the boxer would have nothing if the MT guy hits him with a disabling kick or a close range elbow or knee.

When I did Muay Thai, the Boxers that came in obviously had better hands, head movement, but were susceptible to the leg kicks, teeps, clinch, elbows.

When I transitioned to do boxing, my whole game was wrecked, no kicks/teeps to maintain the distance and my hand combos limited since they were chained to 1-1-Left inside kick-right roundhouse. It took me another 6 months or so to get my footwork together.

Muay Thai and Judo/wrestling will make you a monster on the streets, literally no one can get a clinch on you and you can drop them at will with a knee, elbow, throw...

I trained in both.

Boxing doesn't teach you how to turn a punch into an elbow.

Boxing doesn't teach you how to use the other 50% of your body as an offensive weapon.

Do whatever you want to do, but I will always put my money on a MT fighter over a boxer with equal training.
To be fair MT fighters dont teach proper footwork or uppercuts, fight with high chins, stand square etc.

I started MT with a boxing background and it was hilarious how much an in & out game or circling would frustrate ppl. Dudes really want you to stand in front of them and trade kicks

1st class in about 7 weeks.

Injured my hand doing some other.

Still painful, but I wrapped it pretty good.

In my last roll of the night, I went with a 3, or 4 stripe purple belt.

Defended an armbar, then stacked him, dropped my hips n got close to side control. We battled for a lil bit and I was able to trap his arm and leg with my leg. His neck was open, so I slid my forearm cross his throat n got the tap.

Felt good about that one.
