They often sold some stuff called ‘Pap’ which is maize. They also often sold this spinach stuff which was cool too. Other than that I tried some bread, egg, fries sandwich thing called a quarter which the locals ate.

I’m west African and been to Tanzania annd Kenya. South Africa is a lot less traditional than any other African country I’ve been too. There’s less traditional food and culture. Or at least there’s a much bigger bubble where you don’t interact with traditional African life as much.

but if you want to feel a strong African culture. Go to Ghana in late December. It’s safer to go to local hotspots. In South Africa you stay in the large affluent enclaves and don’t step out.

Given their history with white South Africans...that makes sense.

Feel like West African foods (jollof rice, suya, pepper soup etc) and Ethiopian foods have a presence but I've never heard anyone say "lemme get some South African food"....not even white SA food.

They sold biltong a lot. I didn’t see any black locals eat it.

The biggest issue is your attitude towards money.

I would definitely go to Joburg. From the rest it’s up to your own tastes. Big booty specialist go to Durban - particularly in July. You want more light skin (coloured) women, go to Cape Town.

It was wonderful. South Africa is beautiful. It’s hot but nothing that feels extreme. The women’s attitude to sex is very liberal in many ways.
