I've never heard this much "referee/cheating" talk regarding the NFL (Chiefs)

A lot of it is fatigue for many not wanting the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl again. And, when you are one of the best teams in the league that is playing more games than almost any team (playoffs included), and you are often in primetime, there will be a lot more focus on that team.

If you are talking specifically this year, I don't know if we've seen a top tier team get as many "breaks" as they have, but good teams make other teams pay when they get those chances.

Anyone who says the Worthy catch was not a catch just flat out does not understand the rules and is objectively wrong. It was clearly a catch. Now, the third down that was marked short was rough and then the stop on 4th down was VERY close. You almost had to go with the call on the field there.

it wasn't a catch

it wasn't a catch

It was.

There shouldn't be a debate about that play. The 4th down call is one thing, but that was clearly a catch.:manny:. It boggles my mind how people are surprised at what it ruled a catch and what is not. It's not as complicated or inconsistent as people want to make it seem. I had zero doubt that was going to be ruled a catch.

Edit: I'll play along. Why do you believe it wasn't a catch? Point to the specific part/parts of the rule that you are questioning with that ruling.

People in this thread acting like social media just popped up.
Eh the team that everyone is comparing them to had their biggest scandal and bullshyt ref call pre Twitter. Deflategate was when Twitter was around but not as many users. I know forums are social media but it’s not even comparable to the shyt we have today

I can’t really remember any controversial calls the Pats had in playoff games when social media went to the next level

Patriots discourse was worse because there was literally documentation of them cheating, social media just wasn't the outlet it is now during virtually all of their run (2001-2019)
No there wasn’t. People are just stupid. The reason it went away was because Kraft starting suing newspaper and threatened to sue ESPN.

The Patriots were hated because they were good and Brady was a pretty boy dating models and Belli was an a$$hole. They had aura as villains. They also beat up on the Jets so NY hated them. Realistically, you could never argue the refs gave them any unique sort of calls any other marquee QB didn’t get. You never felt Brady got more calls than Peyton or Brees or Rodgers. The tuck rule was stupid but was called before and after that game.

That was 2002. There isn’t any particular call or play that anyone can point to during their runs after that where you can say the refs gave them a game or made a call in their favor in a big moment. That’s why people bought so much into spygate and deflategate because they needed to explain them being good. With the Chiefs, people are reacting to a team get every close call in prime time every week. And then we flash to Taylor Swift. I can acknowledge that their calls are magnified like any call Brady or the Pats got but they’ve gotten more calls this season than the entire 20 year reign of Brady.

The phantom roughing the passer/Pass Interference calls that always seem to happen on failed 3rd down plays for them to get a fresh set of downs, them not getting called for holding after the 4th quarter starts, it's blatant and insulting to our intelligence.

The ref who doesn't even have view of Josh Allen on the sneak overruled the ref who had the clear view of Josh Allen who said he got it. How does that even make sense? :francis:

One thing the NFL did for Brady was the now infamous "Brady Rule" after he blew out his knee. It likely extended his career (along with some bum QBs as well) and is why it's dumb to try to compare his accomplishments to the QBs that came before him. The NFL changed a lot from the 80s/90s to the mid 2000s and beyond. They went completely overboard protecting QBs.

Some will say "I don't want to watch backups in the playoffs" but that's literally what the NFL was. The 49ers would be lucky to have Montana healthy by the end of the playoffs.
