winning the superbowl- not sure about that. But winning the AFC. totally agree. With Gronk out, it's wide open. Now the Chiefs are gonna catch the raiders and win the afc west. Let me explain why. 3 home games against Tenn, Oakland and Denver. Raiders have to go on the road against the Chiefs, chargers and Broncos. they might lose all 3 of those games. Chargers are going to wanna play spoiler. Now with Justin Houston back that defense is elite. He makes that much of a difference.

With a historic, all-time defense defense. Notice how Elway hit Peyton with the :camby: despite winning that ring. That kind of shyt is unsustainable and not something you wanna bet on year in an year out. They still got two of those three, upgraded at QB, and the defense is still great but not at the ridiculous level it was at last year and they are at risk at not even making the playoffs. Not to mention Kubiak has never shown himself to be a complete idiot, especially in big games, and Old Manning outplayed Smith against the same Pats team in last years playoffs. The Broncos probably lose with Smith.

I wasn't comparing the teams, just the perception. Before last year a lot of people would have said a Kubiak lead team would never win a ring.

I'm not a big Smith fan, but his playoff numbers are pretty solid. If the chiefs can continue to play turnover free football, he can certainly game manage his way there. Not saying it'd be easy or that they'd be favorites...but I could see it happen.

They are solid because he's never really asked to do much and it's small sample. He's got what...5 playoff games in 12 years? 3 of those games have come against the Saints D, the Colts D, and the all around shyt show Texans. That loss to the Giants is pretty bad as well. You can't "don't fukk up :lupe: :whoa:" your way to a chip in this day and age. Peyton, while a shell of a shell of himself, still stepped up and made some big time throws when needed last year.

It took a special effort by the team to change that perception. I don't think KC has what it takes to pull off such and effort.

Let's be reality, Andy Reid has maximized Alex Smith's strengths and accounted for his weaknesses, Alex Smith has now had 5 years of solid if unspectacular seasons and his playoff numbers when he has made it in are respectable. The Chiefs have a very good running game and an elite defense, if they can get at least 1 home game in the playoffs, their chances are as good as anyone's.

The Chiefs are really a lucky team this year. They're 19th in scoring offense, 9th in scoring defense; they're not some world beater. They've been living high on turning teams over and scoring on defense and special teams. Not really a repeatable formula for the playoffs.

I just can't trust Alex Smith to ball out and win a game. In the playoffs you need that. There's no guarantee the other team is going to make big mistakes and if that doesn't happen the chiefs are fukked imo. Trying not use any bias here since I'm a raider fan but I know the raiders defense is ass, but I'm confident if we need Derek Carr to ball the fukk out and win the game for us he can. He's kinda done it all season and last.
