Got an in the gym run and in the car run. This shyt is solid. Right on time during a time of compulsive junk music

after sitting down with it, it's a solid 4 mic album. I was just expecting a classic and the false prophet and everybody die tracks threw me off from what to expect. it's prolly not fair to expect a classic seeing as how rare they are. kendrick is the only one in the game with the capability to drop classics now. he's just head and shoulders above his peers.

but the album is good. cole needs to chill on the singing though. it's tolerable in spurts, but shyt gets cringeworthy when he goes on for too long. dude out here thinkin he's mos def and shyt. can't be singing for whole songs when your voice is cracking and shyt. also his lyrical performance on some of these tracks is just decent. 4 your eyez only is cole at his peak. but it's the only track where he reached that god level. the album is what it is. good. nothing more. born sinner is easily better. at this point i've given up on cole ever dropping a true classic album. just don't think he has it in him. but even cole just doing good is better than most rappers doing great. so i'll take it.

Nah, you just seem mad that people don't find this shyt to be immaculate. You can make "deep" non turnup music that isn't stale....or full of bad singing :francis:

I'm not asking anyone to say this album is classic or anything. I just find the reactions to cole making an album like this funny. Rap fans are the worst, but it doesn't surprise me.

Ehh. Authoritative fans like you are just as bad, the fact that people not feeling this means, by your logic, they weren't listening to cole during the come up/warm up days and are hypebeasts is laughable. On some "everything cole drops is wonderful" shyt, nah, each project is judged on its own merit, and this one is underwhelming, not failing, simply a b-/b at beast effort.

And that's just my opinion. At the end of the day, if you only respect his music if he can get you lit then you're the problem. Go elsewhere for that type of energy. I'm glad the nikka made this album. It's necessary in this climate. It's relevant. It's not just dope music for the sake of being dope, the nikka is speaking on real life, what ppl are going through right and what he is also going through. It's a more mature cole than his last effort and the avg fan today isn't going to feel it because they want that easy popcorn turn up shyt that they can run to social media and quote under pictures.

It really doesn't matter if listeners like that don't like the music. People like me who appreciate growth and creativity fukk with it. I'll continue to listen to the album then come to a conclusion as to where it stands in his discography and with the rest of the really good rap shyt released all year. Fans of cookie cutter rap can fall back.

This album is fire. It'll take longer to grow than his other projects, though. Hip-hop is in a good space right now.

You act like the average cole fan was ever turning to him for turn up popcorn music, just stop with that hollow talking point because it's not true. The "he's speaking real shyt" is said about every project he makes, dude didn't earn the relatable label by not being relatable. Lastly, again, nothing wrong with making mature music - snoop did on bush, dre on Compton, Nas on life is good - but that doesn't mean it has to be subpar, flat, or done so much in a vacuum that you miss blatantly unappealing elements - LIKE OD'ING ON BAD SINGING thinking it passes as "artsy" or "depth"

Cole fans relate to shyt like Wet Dreamz (Cole corny ass spells dreams with a z, come on) and act holier than thou like breh aint several classes below even drake and not even on the same planet of kendrick. I like to troll these nikkas in real life tbh. they be so pretentious.

Oh my god guise, so deep. His girl is pregnant and he wrote a song about doing the laundry for her while doing the laundry and drinking almond. He also rhymed almond milk with almond milk.

Truly the 2pac of our generation

:whew:

I swear my nikka could rap about eating a bag of salt and vinegar lays chips and you nikkas will be like "the reason he ate salt and vinegar is because he's salty some days and vinegar other days"

:childplease:
