It was ok. Bars were average, delivery & breath control-wise this was one of his best displays in years though :leon: He can definitely rap

Not a fan of his music but this was a good showing. Not amazing to the tune of Black Thought/Funk Flex level, but the energy was great and he sounds hungrier than usual.

Listening to Cole for 12 years now it's honestly surprising how much he's improved as a rapper. He was always good, but over the years since say, 4 your Eyez Only, I've noticed his MC'ing has steadily increased it terms of flow, wit, breath control, etc. On ROTD3 he was rapping his a** off. You can tell he's a student of the game.

I'm excited for the album. Cole's only undisputed classic imo is the Warm Up. It would be mad dope if a top rapper this late in his tenure drop a project to put a pulse in the game as far as real rap s***.

This is why I’m shocked heads are surprise Cole killed this. It’s like y’all haven’t been paying attention the past 3 years. Like he didn’t body his spots on ROTD3. Like he didn’t kill Jay rock, 21 savage, Royce, Wale, JID and Jeezy with his features. Dude is reaching his final form. His sound has evolved, he is way more polish from flow, to cadence to lyricism. Middle Child shyts all over his single discography easy. The Climb Back is a top 5 Cole track.

:gucci: look at Donald glover showing out right here yall.

Cole is boring as a producer always has been, if he would just step back from that and let go over some top tier beats :ohlawd::damn:

I'm not mad at him getting that bag but if some producers would hold this man hostage so he could rap over their production would be ideal :mjlol:

I'd love to see him do like Curren$y does and lock in with a single producer for an entire project.

I’m not Donald Glover:russ:

Cole being “boring” as a producer is an opinion not a fact. Its like saying Nas doesn’t pick good beats or Jay-Z only raps about materialism. Its something people latch onto JUST to have something to criticize.

The man goes number 1 with every album
The man goes platinum with every album
The man gets critical acclaim with every album
The man gets mainstream press and attention with every album

That means he’s doing SOMETHING right with these beats across FIVE ALBUMS, three group projects, and having produced for numerous mainstream artists including YBN Cordae, Young Thug, Khaled, and Kendrick fukking Lamar.

Donald please just focus on Season 3 :whoa:

I'm a reformed Cole Stan breh, I got burned out on his shyt after Born Sinner. I just feel that his production is mediocre and his rapping could enter another echelon if he rapped over someone else's beats

And yeah Nas picks alright beats, but do he buss his gun though :what:? You one of those that would take a dinner with JayZ over 5 million huh :patrice:

Literally none of mainstream rap sounds like this. Crazy how it shifted the past 4-5 years.

Cole killed this shyt though. Can’t believe Cole, Kenny and Drake are truly the last of a dying breed in rap. Might be the last true GOATs before the music transforms again to something else.

At this point, just making a coherent 16 bar verse and a good song that aint have Drill/Trap beats will makes you listenable.

Todays's "artists" are just drug addicted slackers.

If I were Cole I would N E V E R allow anyone to produce for me on my albums fukk ya’ll.

Get ALL them checks Cole. The man goes platinum every album he gotta be doing SOMETHING right

Cole built his fan base organically. He still putting up good numbers over a decade in, while many of these radio songs artists won't be talked about ever again by this August
