I used to worry about losing it. Then everytime i had a rut id go back and within 10-15 min id be back.

But I had to focus on other thjngs rather than making beats all day. So i still goto it but havent in a while. Down from 300 beats a year to 10 maybe. But those 10> the og 300

And coles more than a fine beat maker. He reminds me of doom in that he aint the best, but his work is his own purely at the least.

And the production on 4 Your Eyez Only is straight garbage from front to back. J. Cole isnt a good producer.

4 Your Eyez Only is one of his best albums, was critically acclaimed and is multiplatinum. You not liking it is strictly a matter of opinion.

Work Out was the hit song that he needed to get off the shelf. Its not a classic by any means but the fact that he had the wherewithal to, when his back was against the wall, not to have to run to the hot producer of the minute and cooked up his own hit is a testament to his abilities.

Face it. J.Cole is one of the most successful producer/rappers of all time and the MOST successful of his generation. Krit, Oddisee, not even Tyler The Creator have reached the levels of success that Cole has. And some would say Travis Scott but he uses both Ghost-Producers as well as Ghost Writers.

People talking about his production ain’t good like the man don’t got 4 multiplatinum albums where he strictly produced himself. J.Cole is literally one of the most successful producer/rappers of all time.

If he wanna get back behind the boards then thats his prerogative. I have no idea why that would be considered a bad thing
He can do what he want

but dude is definition of mid as a producer

He was never a great producer honestly. His beats always felt kinda cheap. Not wack at all but nothing special.

This here.

His beats were never that great, but I remember him saying he'd rather make his own than pay someone else to do it. I've always felt his music in general is exactly what you said, "not wack, but nothing special".

I think it would be a dope move to get more top-tier production from real producers moving forward. Maybe more of that and some direction will take his music to the next level. He might be able to catch Kendrick if he could add some more soul to the mix. His music still sounds mad stale to me.

Elite begs to differ
J. Cole is legit a top tier Executive producer in Hip-Hop.
There people who would kill to have his discography.

J. Cole is really one of them ones.

He isn't just a dude shopping for beats but has actually produced and fleshed out entire albums
by himself, even if his enlisted other producers.

That's not just respectable, it's hard as fukk.

Damn and I completely disagree.
4 Yourz Eyez Only has phenomenal production to me.

There was stuff on there that I didn't even realize bro produced.

Different tastes I guess :yeshrug:
