Scorpion has some all time Drake songs but it's just too bloated and incohesive to call a good project.
And responding to all the controversy ruined Scorpion - which is one decision that Cole made here which was absolutely the right move from a creative perspective.
Cole didn't let the noise dictate this project, he did the right thing by being above it. But he also needs to realize he can't run forever and will need to answer some tough questions about the battle.

Bc that shyt is fire. For whatever reason Cole is placed in this elite category when his music typically ain’t. Other artists with less hype/respect consistently put out better, more engaging, better produced music. With better stories. This ngga (Cole) has nothing to talk about. Trying to muster up the energy to listen

The niche Cole has carved out is very interesting to me because artistically he just isn't that dude. 2009-2016 he's progressively gotten worse overall but more skilled as an emcee, which is kinda opposite of the general hip-hop audience pallet preference.
Him maintaining his popularity ultimately is good for the genre as a torch bearer for someone who embraces being a craftsman
