He let Kenny and the machine behind the battle/rollout singlehandedly derail what was going to be the defining moment of his career…shyt is absolutely wild when you think about it… it’s ironic because that was actually the most poignant part of 7 Minute Drill to me

Your third shyt was massive and that was your prime
I was trailin' right behind, and I just now hit mine
Now I'm front of the line with a comfortable lead
How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin' with me
Well, he caught me at the perfect time, jump up and see
Boy, I got here off of bars, not no controversy
…..
The rap beef ain't realer than the shyt I seen in Cumberland
He averagin' one hard verse like every 30 months or somethin'
If he wasn't dissin', then we wouldn't be discussin' him

He called the play…Cole spent years building up his momentum with authentically impactful feature verses and The Fall Off was anticipated as his run at the top of the card after years as the junior partner of “the big 3”…Kenny swooped in with beef as a rollout after seeing Drake and Cole run it up in the wake of the “my auntie is a man” album dud…and instead of saying fukk it and going for his, the nikka surrendered and made it a self fulfilling prophecy…he’s fukking ashamed of himself, probably had to scrap the album because it sounded ridiculous in the face of such cowardice…he’s never getting that moment back

Shameful

Cole admitted on record that he still feels like he's behind Drake and Kendrick. This was the same year he dropped arguably his best album and proved that his feature run made him a better songwriter.

I don't know if he was telling the truth on "7 Minute Drill" or he just wrote a diss track because he felt like he needed to respond to the "Like That" verse. It's obvious Kendrick was talking to Drake, but Cole put himself in a position where everyone thought he wanted to win the war. Then the response to the track was lukewarm, Cole wasn't able to eat solid food for two days, and he took it back like it was a joke. Then months later, he brought the issue back up and said "I saw where things were going.......but don't think for one second, I wouldn't have taken it there if I decided to take it where it needed to be taken. I just didn't." I'm pretty sure he lost Drake's friendship after the apology and they don't speak anymore.

My point is, Cole shouldn't have even bothered with it if he knew he wasn't a wartime rapper. It was never his fight.

Cole doing what the other guy was supposed to do, fall back and let the shyt blow over and not drag it on.
He will drop 1st or 2nd quarter next year and be fine.

I think contractually, Drake couldn’t “fall back”. That deal he signed must have some crazy stipulations that he has to drop new music yearly because there’s absolutely NO other reason for why he’s dropping such uninspired TRASH when its clear getting sonned by K.Dot and having the industry at large turn it’s collective back on him has had an effect.

As far as Cole is concerned, yes he’s lost major cred amongst rap heads like us and he can never gain that back, but it seems like it won’t affect his overall popularity because his fanbase is massive and they LOVE him. His crew loves him and holds him down no matter what. Hell Big Daddy Kane just publicly said he respects what Cole did.

He can’t be the top rapper of his generation. And even tough guy “My bars are deadly” lines from him will get an eye-roll, but his next album will do numbers guaranteed and so will the inevitable tour.

He forgot who he really was. Ol friendly ass nicca got away from his true self and started barking on the mic like he had no sense. Was manipulated into stepping into something he should have stayed out of and had to tuck tail and run. Now, he has nothing to rhyme about. The Fall Off doesn’t even need to drop anymore because he personifies that title.

But he did engage with Kendrick... I think people are upset that he even engaged in the first place only to bail when shyt was about to get ugly.

He just needs to rap again

Go on another feature run and kill shyt

Drop an introspective joint explaining his state of mind during the beef

Just feed the fans again and drop music, I don't think people care about the diss/delete as much as we act like they do. He punked out, Drake lost, time to move on
