Do people actually believe this? Kanye is probably the most creative/diverse producers in rap history. In what way is Dilla leaps and boundaries better?

It's my opinion and yeah Dilla is far greater than Ye. Dilla in 32 years of his life was still experimenting and elevating his craft even when sick. I can listen to Dilla's beats over Ye, especially a lot of his post MBDTF work wasn't that great to me. But this is my opinion though and there's no empirical evidence measure as to who's better than the other, they're both legendary producers. If you feel Ye is better that's a respectable opinion.

J Dilla is definitely the superior producer between himself and Kanye. Kanye himself would admit it I reckon. Random but So Far to Go without the Common verse is amazing. Beautiful beat with that heavenly D’Angelo hook. RIP Jay Dee

Question to everyone in this thread

If Dilla was still alive to this day…how many people feel like he wouldn’t have made enough more headway or advancement in the industry to equal or surpass Ye in terms of innovation or impact? Being that he missed the blog era, Drake, soundcloud era, etc???

Y’all really dont think he would’ve done incredible things with this much advancement in technology in the music industry???

Let’s be fr.

With the way the underground is thriving he would have been doing what Madlib and Alchemist are doing. He'd be killing the one producer albums. Definitely could see him still getting placements with artists like Kendrick, Cole, etc.

No one can say how advanced he'd be on production. He was already way ahead of his time before he passed so the sky was the limit.

Kanye was Kanye before Dilla passed.

Dude took off immediately once the first album dropped, and it got even crazier after the second. Dilla was still here then. That's the first point. Second, Ye's career doesn't have anything to do with Dilla's. They both could've did their thing and been wild successful at the same time, like every other producer. So nothing he's saying makes sense.

Dilla's one of my favorite producers of all-time, but his brother's always been an idiot.

Illa been looking funny to me ever since he dissed Quest and Badu tbh. And Ye was already a SUPERSTAR by the time Dilla passed.

And I'm saying that as a super Dilla fan lol.

Insane statement especially given Ye’s rise with CD. By the time Dilla died Ye was already superstar status and put out a banger sophomore album.

Producer wise Dilla was better but bigger than Kanye? Fam he wasn’t bigger than Ye when he was even alive. Ludicrous statement.

But would Kanye still be as big as he is? Artists would have had two options to choose beats from. That changes the dynamics.

Kanye would be relevant based on the attention-seeking shyt he always does, but he wouldn't be as big as he became.

I think Kanye and Drake collectively benefited from J Dilla dying and Max B being locked up. If those two were in the mix, the landscape would have looked different in hip-hop and, consequently, pop culture.
