Nah

He was hot BEFORE the Shady deal signing, and madd labels wanted to sign him because he was hot in the streets

He settled on Shady/Aftermath because of the prospect of Dre doing his album AND a co-sign from who was likely the hottest non-Black music artist in the country at the time

He would have been big anyways but the Em and Dre association brought him into the MP3 players of kids across the country as opposed to the Tri-State Area

Is that what 50 cent said? You do know he was also blackballed after he got shot …right?

Right...but the Summer of like 2001 to Summer 2002, 50 was HEAVY in the mixtape circuit and was extremely popular in NYC and gaining popularity outside the Tri-State area

How many labels wanted to sign him that he settled on Shady?

Dre didn’t even want to sign him that’s why he had to go under Shady

I think it should've been equal credit.

Ja came around the same time Pac passed away, so him along with DMX were filling the void of the same music he was making. Whether it would’ve stuck around or not that’s a question we don’t know. 50’s edge won of course but he made a soft music afterwards.
Your response has NOTHING to do with what we're talking about, catch up first

Irv is no Em'

:heh:

It's not even the same. Eminem was a whole pop/rap megastar with the Jimmy Iovine/Interscope machine behind him. Irv was a producer turned exec who worked his way into the game from the ground up.
Irv put ja on and gave him his style. Wtf are you talking about

you're trying to compare the power of Irv Gotti to the power of Eminem &Iovine/Interscope at their peak. And to my understanding DMX was actually more influential on Ja's style than Irv. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn’t say nothing about nobody’s power. I said where would ja rule be without the man that put him on and produced his records.

Truth.

But a lot of people aren't up on 50's mixtape run. That shyt was legendary. Dude dropped Guess Who's Back?, 50 Cent is the Future, No Mercy, No Fear, and God's Plan, all in the same year. Mixtape spots were selling out of these tapes left and right. He was dropping mixtapes that ended up on the Billboard Top 30 charts. That's how much buzz he was getting back then, while still being blackballed. After awhile, the same companies that had rode with Irv and didn't want to even take 50's calls, started reaching out to him with deals based on how much hype he was getting off the mixtapes. They all tried to reverse their positions and that's when the bidding wars started.

Em heard one of the tapes, and eventually reached out to 50 and the rest we know. But he earned his deal the old fashioned way. He hit the streets with mad music, independently and actually built his buzz from the ground up.

How many of Ja's hit had features? How many of 50’s classics had features?

That should demonstrate clearly who could stand on their own and who needed more help.

Man what? How old are you?

50's buzz was so insane that nikka could've gone anywhere he wanted.

Let's be real he signed with Interscope cause they offered $1million up front and a watch

Labels didn't want him after he got shot so he built himself back to a position where he had options. Irv was strong at the time so Def Jam wouldn't have happened. Eminem at the time was a superstar

The stars all aligned for that 50.

Snoop doing the freestyle over PIMP
Meeting Young Buck and taking Bloodhound for GRODT
Puffy making Lloyd Banks Victory Freestyle as part of the official remix
Etc

Re-write history if you like but before 50 sign to Em the mixtape momentum was insane. He was going to blow no matter what. The fed case is bullshyt story. 50 was that guy during time and not because of Em. Wanksta didn’t have em on it, In da club didn’t have Em on it. Matter fact bone of his singles had Em on it.

If you read my posts…that is what I said. Eminem said out of his own mouth he had to convinced Dre who wasn’t interested, and told him he would sign 50 to Shady and take full responsibility if things went left.
