It's cheap because the city is shyt. Also, realize there are two Jacksonvilles divided by a bridge. The north and the south. North is racked in poverty (majority black) and the south is full of whites. There's also nothing to do there as it is literally a drive-by state that you pass on your way to Miami or Orlando. I will say that when I went to HS down there freshman year, the white/spanish girls there do like black guys alot. I had a mob of them on me my first day of gym class just sitting on the bleachers by myself. Started asking me all types of questions about myself then proceeded to sit with me for the rest of the semester.

In Florida, anything outside of South FL area (Miami, Fort-Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Key West) is usually fairly cheap. Except if you live in the party beach towns (Destin, Panama-City, etc)

Jacksonville has seen an increase of tech companies relocating there recently so this may just be the calm before the storm. Ive had several recruiters calling me about jobs in Jacksonville.
