As I always say when this topic comes up, its not about whether you had both parents or not. Kiss wasn't no wild guy but spoke wild shyt in his raps so when people find out his upbringing it brings everything into question.

As I also said on this topic in years past: a)I never had the impression he was a tough guy or big money guy; and b)years and years ago I was told by New Yorkers, summarizing, that all those Lox dudes "were around" but nobody was really noteworthy for anything in the streets.

Meaning, those dudes likely dipped they feet in and out at times, but none of these guys were what they portrayed, and if you listened to the music they portrayed themselves as factors. nikkas from YO and The Boroughs essentially affirmed what my impression of these guys was anyway.

It ain't about him having both parents at home. Him having both parents at homr is just a microcosm for many, I think, that he was playing a character. And alot of people who grew up on these dudes and the era they came up in, glamorized these guys, so years later it hurts some nikkas feelings to learn Kiss the rapper was an embellisher.
Every rapper embellishes
I think we know this now

It's the stupidest shyt ever. Some of the most gangsta nikkas I knew had both they parents. I know 3 brothers that was all Blood nikkas. Had both they parents and they father ran a church and was a preacher. Them nikkas was wild af. My best friend was a Crip and this nikka had both his parents. nikka was wild af. shyt I had both my parents and ain't NOBODY gonna tell me I ain't grow up strugglin. Lol. Murhafukkas had it hard man. And if anyone thinks 100% of nikkas in the hood ain't have both they parents they either a cracka or ain't never grow up in the hood they self.
None of these stories have anything to do with Jada tho. Your point ain’t wrong it just don’t apply to Jada. He grew up well and he’s not telling the full story of how well his father actually “shook back” and how well his parents did in general

Biggie said he grew up in a 1 room shack :mjpls:

Didn't end up being like a three bedroom apartment?

I remember it being valued at alot, because of it's real estate.

I never knew Jadakiss came from a nuclear family.

Two parent household, went to private school, and even studied in Tennessee before returning home to chase the streets and rap. That’s a more privileged background than his fans were ever led to believe. And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that because stability and opportunity are blessings, not flaws.

But the issue is that both Jada and his father admitted the label told him to hide this reality because it didn’t fit the “street” image. AND HE WENT ALONG WITH IT, this was said on the JBP and Jada didn’t deny it! He chose to lean into stereotypes and sell a false narrative. That choice makes it hypocritical. He benefited from stability, education, and parents who sacrificed for him, yet he downplayed all of that just to sound more “authentic” to the streets.

This matters because when rappers suppress stories of stability and privilege, it reinforces a dangerous cycle in the Black community. It tells young listeners that dysfunction is “real” and healthy family structures are corny or inauthentic. It pressures artists to embrace struggle, crime, and trauma as cultural currency, instead of celebrating strong families, education, or responsible parenting. Jada even admitted he valued that stability more once he became a parent himself so why deny it in his music?

It’s hypocritical for him to rap about pain, drugs, and instability while hiding the truth that his father, even while battling addiction, still maintained a business and paid for private schooling. More black artists especially rappers should push this in music because it’s a story of resilience and support. The hypocrisy is that Jadakiss chose to bury it, leaving another generation of fans to believe that chaos is the only authentic Black experience.

Plies was a nurse and he gets bashed for that. J Cole admitted that his mom told him to speak and act like he has a college degree and he said no. At some point we do have to admit that it’s a terrible stereotype and Jada is Clarence from 8 mile and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I gotta turn this into an article lol because at times especially when I was young and immature I thought it was corny but that’s how I was raised to think and believe from hip hop and dumb nikkas in the hood. Being black isnt just about struggle and street shyt. We are not a monolith

Has nothing to do with a 2 parent household

If Jada ole dude was a street dude and had work back in the day, we would of heard about that every other verse from Jada smh

He hid his upbringing because it was the opposite of what he was rapping about, he even said he came from a single parent household on a joint smh

They all went to college, Jada pops has been a coffee executive in corporate America and he pushed a street hood life on the youth for 30 years smh

If Sigel or 50 had this info back in the day, it might not be a D-Block

And I been a Lox fan since Bad Boy but you have to call a spade a spade

His family wasn't rich, but he grew up privileged.

He definitely was cosplaying, fam. Here's the thing, if you don't grow up as a participant, but get to 18, 19, 20, sometimes older (who knows how old he was), and start using those associations of people you know to get close to the action, its still cosplaying.

You get involved with flipping dope for awhile because you can, carrying guns, all that kinda shyt, but never a full participant, its still cosplaying.

He was signed to Bad Boy by the time he was 19 or 20. Prior to that, we know he was running around rapping earlier and I can believe he was running with cats who were doing dirt, so maybe a teenage Kiss got his hands on some drugs; we already understand he was "around" some guys doing shyt and he was "around" and in the hood.

There are guys of his age bracket who were established as being participants in the bullshyt. Kiss was a guy who rapped who likely got his hands a little dirty.

He sold himself as something bigger than that. At the very least you could acknowledge that much but you defending his honor, not as bad as him being literally fifty years old doing the same 😂
Son it's not just about me. I know some of these nikkas childhood friends. Not some random nikkas who saw them in passing etc etc. like this is the shyt I'm talking about. And what does a gangsta look like? I NEVER looked at Kiss as a gangsta anyway. He was always a regular nikka from the hood to me. Styles P on the other hand? U buggin.

What does "talking like a college kid" even mean my nikka? Like what? Lol. That's like saying cause I went to college I gotta change the way I been talking my entire life. That would be faker than anything. Lol. Of course u gotta code switch depending on the situation but that shyt proves son's mom was a white lady who didn't understand. Lol.

Yeah this is true too.

I think we have to start publicly appreciating the guys who wake up and work the 9-5, the guys who try to walk the narrow path more in music. We have to lose the mind state that it’s corny because it’s not it’s just real.

My guy you know exactly what it means. To actually stop using slang and the n word so much. To appear more educated. What does his mom being white has to do with anything? My mom told me the same thing and we’re both as black as the streets are.
