As I always say when this topic comes up, its not about whether you had both parents or not. Kiss wasn't no wild guy but spoke wild shyt in his raps so when people find out his upbringing it brings everything into question.

As I also said on this topic in years past: a)I never had the impression he was a tough guy or big money guy; and b)years and years ago I was told by New Yorkers, summarizing, that all those Lox dudes "were around" but nobody was really noteworthy for anything in the streets.

Meaning, those dudes likely dipped they feet in and out at times, but none of these guys were what they portrayed, and if you listened to the music they portrayed themselves as factors. nikkas from YO and The Boroughs essentially affirmed what my impression of these guys was anyway.

It ain't about him having both parents at home. Him having both parents at homr is just a microcosm for many, I think, that he was playing a character. And alot of people who grew up on these dudes and the era they came up in, glamorized these guys, so years later it hurts some nikkas feelings to learn Kiss the rapper was an embellisher.
He should admit it instead of coming up with these acrobatics explaination

I just think rappers should be looked at as entertainersz, but they’re not. Yeah they embellish but they have to stand on it or they’re not real. In the end it has hurt the community. Because we all had the thought that rappers should be real and ignorant.

I admit I used to. :yeshrug: But I was hella wrong

Unless you’re Kanye or Freddie Gibbs. I can’t support Nazis or gang banging maga members who get pegged

Yep

That's why Kiss should fully embrace who he is
Admit that he was a good kid from a good home but he love gangsta rap, so he created all that stuffs
But he's still out there trying to maintain the street facade with those silly explainations

Biggie said he grew up in a 1 room shack :mjpls:
My man took me to Big’s block in 01 just to show me how beautiful it was, like “I wish I grew up here, this is the Cosby neighborhood in real life” beautiful, and how all rappers are liars.

I’ll forever be grateful to him for breaking the rapper spell early for me.

Prodigy’s letter and Carmen’s book finished it off forever.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
My guy you know exactly what it means. To actually stop using slang and the n word so much. To appear more educated. What does his mom being white has to do with anything? My mom told me the same thing and we’re both as black as the streets are.
Paul Mooney used the n word like there was no tomorrow. To change how u speak cause u went to college is wild work. So I gotta stop using slang cause I went to college? Ok. If that's the case. nikka do u know how many legendary rappers and groups we would've never heard from in hip hop or how generally flavorless hip hop would be if everyone did that? What does college have to do with using slang? Now I don't know how he talks directly to his mom. Do u guys like black culture or not? Slang is our shyt. White people have they own slang as well. I'm confused with what y'all actually want. The N word shyt I get tho. Son uses it WAY too much I even feel that way sometimes. I even cringe with Cam cause he uses it Odee.

@murksiderock I’d be interested to hear your perspective on the Clipse in regards to this topic.
They grew up in a loving two parent home, were solidly middle class. Unlike Jada, they never hid this fact about themselves.

Another contrast from Clipse to Jada, is their lineage to the streets...

Push and Mal were born in The Bronx because their parents went up there to live with their mom's family. But their mom and her family are from various neighborhoods in Southside Norfolk (Diggs Park, Campostella, Berkley). Their maternal grandmother was a drug runner in the 60s before she went to New York, and their family in Norfolk had several people who were drug dealers.

(Their dad was from Chattanooga and a regular every day man, not involved in the streets).

When they moved back south, they were eventually indoctrinated into the world of drugs by that side of the family. Mal being older jumped into it first, then later Push did.

So there's some similarity with Clipse and Jada in coming from stability of two parent homes, but the similarity ends there. The Clipse never hid that aspect of their background.

Like every other rapper, they absolutely embellished the extent of their involvement in the streets. They were mid level dealers though and really come from a background of traffickers.
