@murksiderock I’d be interested to hear your perspective on the Clipse in regards to this topic.
They grew up in a loving two parent home, were solidly middle class. Unlike Jada, they never hid this fact about themselves.
Another contrast from Clipse to Jada, is their lineage to the streets...
Push and Mal were born in The Bronx because their parents went up there to live with their mom's family. But their mom and her family are from various neighborhoods in Southside Norfolk (Diggs Park, Campostella, Berkley). Their maternal grandmother was a drug runner in the 60s before she went to New York, and their family in Norfolk had several people who were drug dealers.
(Their dad was from Chattanooga and a regular every day man, not involved in the streets).
When they moved back south, they were eventually indoctrinated into the world of drugs by that side of the family. Mal being older jumped into it first, then later Push did.
So there's some similarity with Clipse and Jada in coming from stability of two parent homes, but the similarity ends there. The Clipse never hid that aspect of their background.
Like every other rapper, they absolutely embellished the extent of their involvement in the streets. They were mid level dealers though and really come from a background of traffickers.
