What a lot of people don't get about the record industry is that a lot of, probably most, potential new artists are L's so the ones that are W's must cover up for all the money the others cost.
It's like venture capital, you only need to find that one unicorn to cover up for all the other companies that went bust.
For some reason people think that investing in a new young rapper, is just an automatic fantastic investment. We only look at the ones that were successful and ask why didn't they have a better deal. We do not look at the people who got a lot of money and resources but generated nothing.
