There is no middle ground. Jamal just gave you the temperature of the players, but now you’d be more interested in what the coaches have to say? Nah, you seem to be looking for validation fir the narrative that’s anti- Russ. In that short clip Jamal said a mouthful, and if this was a more likable player, then everyone would sing a different tune. But it’s Russ, so his peers perspective doesn’t matter, you need to hear the coaches instead. Smh. I’d always trust active players opinions on active players, especially from their era.
Oh, how this aged horribly.

I wonder if any of y'all opinions have now changed, that just maybe what the "stat geeks" were saying about him might be closer to being accurate than y'all were initially willing to admit.

:mjpls:
This is a dumb as fukk narrative that you’re pushing but your obsession is impressive. Nothing going on in the last two games has anything to do with the resume Westbrook has put out there for over a decade.

Then again you barely understand basketball outside of biases and some numbers you work together, there’s no way in hell you’ve actually ever PLAYED or understood real basketball.
I think a lot of the problem is, as it's evident on this board: players blatantly go against what "stat nerds" say, because they don't feel as though "stat geeks" should have a megaphone when stating their opinions. Which is only natural; if you play a sport for a living, you're going to feel some type of way about someone else speaking about you and that sport, in general, from the confines of their couch. You're out there busting your ass against the best players in the world, and some unathletic cracka is talking about what you're doing wrong.

And then you have a flow-on from that where the NBA is a fraternity, where if one of their own is being criticized by a "stat geek", they'll feel the need to defend that player, and twist the narrative to where they'll be completely biased. Even if they truly don't believe what they're saying, or if they know what the "stat geek" is saying has some shred of truth, they won't acknowledge it. They'll just ride for their own. And that's fine, that's their right to, but nobody should be using that as evidence to suggest that Jamal's opinion holds greater value because of it.
:dead:

I can’t tell if you’re just delusional, or if you’re just stupid?
You were saying?

Honestly just judging off his Twitter account, Jamal seems extremely bitter about anything related to analytics because he thinks that's why he's not in the league anymore

Of course....his last game in the nba he scored 51 points....He hasn't been on a NBA floor since.

20 years ago he would have gotten a brand new max 2-3 year deal

He played in the bubble for the Nets after that but got hurt

As far as the 50 point Game, it was the last game of the season between two lottery teams that had already been eliminated from the playoffs. A glorified preseason game.

I wonder what type of stats people like Lebron and Kobe could put up if their aim was to hit some type of stats and not win titles and games. :jbhmm:

I always wonder why athletes and artists think they speak for all athletes and artists.

Did he call a zoom with all professional athletes and discuss Russ?:dahell:

Athletes are often gentlemen they rarely say negative things. Specially not like detailed things like compromising on defense for rebounds that others would get. Plus Russ being a good guy and a great player probably makes it even harder to say anything negative.
