So are these wear and tear injuries or too much force and awkward landings? Shyt is happening far too frequently across all sports
Both.

The human body only evolved to take so much force, and all the training in the world can't overcome basic biology. Players today are running faster, jumping higher, and pushing off at crazier angles than ever before, and they're doing it from a younger age and more often than ever before. As a result you are going to see more and more injuries. Just look at baseball pitchers - they keep forcing these guys to go up against the absolute limits of the human arm and as a result their elbows and shoulders stay fukked up. For NBA and soccer brehs it's the knees and ankles that can't take it. In the NFL it's pretty much the entire fukking body.

I think it would be better to play other sports rather than all basketball all year. And these all are generally elite athletes so they workout and do skill training at a high level.
Actually I've heard playing one sport and only one sport too much helps causes injuries because kids/teens/young adults do it all year round
Yeah, this is a big deal at the youth level. Honestly they should ban off-season organized basketball/soccer below a certain age cause you're really fukking with those kids' bodies. They'd be better off in the long run playing other sports that utilize other joints and muscle groups.

What did Karl Malone do every offseason to only miss like 8 games from 1985-2003?

John Stockton was also plenty durable
You could make a highlight tape of the 10 most intense moves Stockton pulled in his entire 19-year career and it wouldn't equal the force on his knees that D-Wade or D-Rose created in a single game. A 170lb body hardly ever going more than a couple feet off the ground with no meaningful Eurostep/crossovers and only fairly fluid or relatively slow movements on defense. There's no mystery to why his body lasted.

Karl Malone could have a uniquely durable body and he definitely took very good care of it, but his game was also fairly low key - hitting a lot of jumpers, dunking with power but not putting his head up near the rim, and not that much lateral movement or intense acceleration.

it may be some validity to the shoe argument. The players may have too much grip/traction control for their bodies. Also it could be an argument that the AAU circuit they came up under and playing almost year around with some playing other sports could be an issue as well.
AAU shyt crazy. these lil mufukkas play like 2-4 games a day saturday and sunday.. then play/practice 3 days out the week... and thats 9 yrs old :dahell: def need to have these dudes take breaks/or play other sports. lil b*stards doing euros in 2nd grade.

I hated to hear this happening as i expected the Nuggets to go on a solid run this postseason and go into next season being the favorites. That may change now that Murray is done for the year and it will probably take all of next season for him to even get back to the level he was at if he doesn't have the confidence in his knee for a while.

Injuries are part of the game :yeshrug:

Sucks but it’s true. This theory that these guys nowadays are somehow playing more basketball or more intensely than previous eras is cap.

Sucks for Jamal. You can tell he loves the game and gives it his all. Hopefully he bounces back and doesn’t miss a step :salute:
