The good QB's in the NFL make the wide receiver a household name not vice versa.

so he suppose to make shytty receivers special as well as prosper with shytty coaches :rudy:. I'm not saying he's not to blame but the hand he was dealt was awful

More often than not in football, a players success is based on where he's drafted.

Yeah they coulda got Megatron, but would have been Megatron in Oakland? Who would he have throwing to him in his early years?

By the same token, Jamarcus might have been better had he went somewhere else.

me thinks you forgot or dont know who megatron was catching balls from in his 'early years'

let me remind you:

:flabbynsick: john kitna
jt osullivan :heh:
dan orlovsky
:flabbynsick: dante culpepper
drew stanton
20 pick throwing glass stafford
shaun hill

thats calvin's first 4 years in detroit.

Yeah, but look at his numbers since he got Stafford.

I'm not saying Jamarcus would be breaking records like Megatron, but I bet Megatron isn't breaking records like he is now if in Oakland.

theyre not comparable. megatron was putting up nice numbers with wack qbs + shaun hill

:jawalrus: was putting up wack numbers, period and at the end didnt give a shyt.

if he stayed in shape and cared to come to mandatory meetings, he mightve still been in the league.

people gave up on him because he sucked AND didnt care. his last year in the league is absolutely putrid even by bum standards

Love
Look at the circumstances he was under. Then look at other #1 pick QBs
Alex Smith was under similar circumstances and I'd say he managed to keep himself in the league.

JaMarcuslet himself and a lot of people down. I'm not a Raiders or LSU fan et i was rooting for the guy to be successful. Mainly because I couldnt stand Brady Quinn who walked around all over TV talking sh!t about JaMarcus before the draft hoping teams would make him the first pick.

And What did he do? NOTHING. We need to STOP making excuses for these cats at some point. Jamarcus had a franchise handed to him and was given 3 years. Not to be a star. But to show he belonged in the league even as a damn backup and HE FAILED.

Guys like him are the reason why NFL contracts will NEVER be guaranteed

I gotta admit... I was ready to clown him. Seeing that video though, I wish the best for him. I'm sure he's learned his lesson about not taking things for granted. I hope the brother makes a triumphant return and goes on to have a good career.
