His mobility was better than I expected, he evaded pressure, created throwing lanes and picked up yards with his movement.

That o-line was way too shyt to really judge him on this performance though, he had no time at all back there

My point is people will show their biases it's only natural, however the coli does not have a responsibility of objectivity like the media does. On the coli for the most part we express our opinion on how we feel about certain players , good bad blaze blaze, the media is out there shaping opinions and narratives.
Our biases are born out to an initiators bias. It's not the same

I see this as being very similar to RgIII vs Luck back in 2012. Luck was allowed to make big boy throws and go through his progressions in a pro style offense. RgIII was coddled with some college offense read option shyt which allowed him to look good early but then he got hurt. Marcus only had 3 series and his offense looked similar to what I saw from oregon but at least he ran the huddle like an NFL QB. Jameis on the other hand was given more to do. HE had 8 series and had to go through his progressions. His completion rate suffered but he is being forced to sink swim which is a good thing.

This is also a good point, as long as it's known you're trying to be an equalizer when you apply football knowledge to the situation they've obviously overlooked (whether intentional or not).

Choose a side, that's all good, it's why people watch sports.

Just call it down the middle the other way too though.

I had an argument with somebody who was blaming Winston for the false start. I told him if our team gets false starts do they blame our QB (Rivers) for that then too, or will they blame the LT.

That kind of shyt I can't stand. It wasn't the media, but something the media does tend to flip.

There shouldn't be a side. These bigots foster an environment where one has to be protective of those under the foot of their bigotry.

Let's assess some things. The refs werent throwing flags on obvious PI calls especially to #80 in the end zone. The replays clearly showed the cb left arm wrapped around the waist. The INT happened because a cb got tangled up with Evans.

Mariota didn't throw pass 10 yards.

Winston should've been rifling it more.

It was the first game. He'll be fine.

Jameis will be fine going forward. He just needs to work on consistently moving the safety and get used to NFL speed. His decisions last night were sluggish. That said, I did see some arm strength, pocket movement and deep ball expertise from yesterday.
In other words he looks like he belongs in the league. I wish this kid had a running game to help him out. Liked what a saw considering what he is working with and that he is a rookie.

The issues some of the scouts had with Jameis that I've been reading are that his adjusted YPA are poor in comparison to his completion percentage. That's generally been a strong indicator of pro success. And the fact he only started for two years and not three.

Why does this always devolve into a Jameis vs Mariota thing? They both looked like rookie QB's in their first games.....and don't pull that Jameis is more advanced shyt because after those first few terrible throws they literally only had him reading one side of the field. Jameis will get better, but he needs to start by playing quicker. He was all over the place and slow as shyt.

His YPA in his first year was an outstanding 10.6, a true franchise QB. However YPA the following year was a troubling 8.4, low for what you might expect from a franchise QB. Jameis' YPA dropped last year due to his throwing more in general and having fewer weapons. As such the environment is more to blame. Alternatively I take his prodigious first year as proof of his pro potential if not success. He might need an extra year of seasoning though.

His first season is going to be rough. Not only will he be making rookie-adjustments but his o-line is ass.

By "side" I meant "team" not race my bad. But they push a completely different agenda (race) in this issue. Just saying there's nothing wrong with calling that out, at all.

Just don't want to see anybody go over the top when trying to discredit the other QB though, nor fail to give him credit either. Because that's no different if you're talking straight up football.
