It has everything to do with skill set regarding Winston.
He can't throw the ball deep unless his receivers burn somebody.

People in here can't even admit that Winston was HORRENDOUS last night.
Facts are facts, breh.

But in a few years when Winston ends up being another failed Heisman winner, a thread will get made and nobody in here will comment.

But it's all good tho

:sas1:

He has been bad all year against bad teams. People have to factor in the competition as well. These teams fukking suck that he is playing against.

His play this season is the byproduct of a lot of different issues. I do think he could use another year, ideally. But, I'm 99.9% sure he's gone.

  • He has regressed technically in some aspects of playing QB. If you look at last season's games (particularly the games early in the season last year) in comparison to this season he doesn't go through progressions nearly as quickly (if he does at all), nor is he as effective with eyes and dictating what safeties and LB's will do.
JIMBO dumb ass not letting him work with George Whitfield in the off season. Just so fukking stubborn.
  • As far as the aforementioned, some of it is laziness from Winston. Yet, it is also that teams now have studied FSU's and Jimbo's basic route tree extensively, and our tendencies and know what we're going to do (even if it's an option route). For example, FSU has not run one double move all year at the WR position. Not one. Kermit will never come in and run or fly or something like that. We do nothing to really break tendencies, so teams just sit on stuff. Most of his interceptions are in the middle part of the field.
I know FSU prides itself on running an NFL offense. But where the fukk are the easy throws?? FSU should be killing it in the screen game. Kermit should be getting the ball in SPACE.
  • Lack of timing and trust with other receivers which has led to forced throws to Greene and O'Leary, which has resulted in a good number of picks.
True
  • The film is out. Just as Jimbo's tendencies are well known, so are Winston's now. DC's know he likes to make the big plays and now force him to be patient or suffer the consequences.

Trent Dilfer told him at 17. Be a surgeon, not a butcher. Jameis still fights that till this day. Which is natural considering he's so young.
Jameis can be a great NFL QB. A big factor will be what team he goes to and if he can sit for a year or two. Ultimately, as I've always said it will come down to him and his mindset if he is great or not. If he comes out and plays the gunslinger like he has this year, he's going to have huge problems. If he plays like the black Brady with a lot more physical ability which is how he can play -- he's going to be fukking legit. It will not be an ability thing if he doesn't "make it." He can make every throw on the field.

Well said.

Like someone said in the thread, all that shyt hanging around him won't allow for that. The school and Winston probably can't wait until he declares.

This. They've been thrown shots at him all year and the school is taking a bad rap for it. They support Winston now, but they need him and the pressure gone.

Im no draft expert but I hope he falls to the 5th or 6th rounds due to character issues and let the Dolphins pick him up:lolbron:

Have him sit behind Tanny for a coupl of years then take over

1st round QBs ints during their last year before going pro

2014
Bortles 9
Teddy 4 (highest 12 his freshman year)
Manziel 13 (Had 37 tds that year as well)

2013
EJ 10

2012

Luck 10
RG3 6 (8 his Sophomore year)
Weeden 13 (twice)
Tannehill 15 (But had 29 TDs as well)

2011
Cam 7
Gabbert 9 (twice)
Locker 9 (15 his freshman year)
Ponder 8 (13 his sophomore year)

You have to go back to Rex Grossman to find a QB who has as many ints as Jameis (17) that went 1st round.

He's not ready yet. He's just 20 years old and I'd hate to see him go to a bad organization at this stage of his career.

FSU's young Wrs will be better, Cook will be playing at a Heisman level (less pressure on Jamies), defense should be better imo as well.
He's needs to come back.

However, to play devil's advocate. I think Marino threw like 20+ ints his last year in college as well :manny:

And where are those QB's that you have such high regard for and have thrown few interceptions?

Where is Ponder? Where is Gabbert? Where is Jake Locker? How is Blake Bortles doing? These statistics are asinine. There is zero correlation between the amount of interceptions thrown in college and being NFL style ready.

The point is that there hasnt been a successful QB who has thrown that many ints in a season.....since Marino.

This wasnt to prop up those Qbs. It was to say that even the bad ones found ways to avoid some of these ints. Ponder played with worst talent.

Now I'm not saying Jameis isnt big time :whoa:

Just that its concerning that a top QB has a 1:1 TD/Int ratio. Not since Grossman has a guy had that, left early and went 1st round.

Jameis is just 20. However, if he's having problems with questionable play calling, inexperienced wrs, shaky oline against much inferior opponents.....I'm not sure going to the NFL makes it much better. :ld:Its different that how it use to be. RG3 has been dismissed 5 games into his 3rd year. Josh Freeman was kicked to the curb at 25. EJ Manuel didnt even get 16 games. Geno Smith had the worst supporting cast his 1st years and they are already looking to replace him. They making it harder to groom brehs in the pros.

Go back to school. Dominate. Be ready to play well from day one.

What does correlate is that QBs that stay 4 years (RS JR year for Jameis) have more success than those with 3 years :yeshrug:
