And yeah I did say why I loved the album, but all you did was say I was being biased. So that shows me that you would be ignorant to my opinions anyway. I actually plan on writing a more in depth analysis of the album this weekend or very soon. I’m sure you wouldn’t care about that neither. So I won’t bother sharing.

And I bet she wouldn’t be seeing a high percentage on metacritic (so far) if the album truly sucked.

Oh and Cardi got an 8.7 while Cole got a 6.3, which was fair because Cardi put out a stronger album than Cole.

You can have it. I know what you’re trying to do, and you won’t pull me in. You alright, but arguing is something that I don’t care to take part in.

I didn't even plan on listening to this for a while, but I saw she got Brian Wilson on a track so I'm bout to give this a spin.

I Got the Juice is reason enough why 2018 Pharrell should not be making music without Chad. Not feeling this album so far. Give it the weekend to see if I feel different

And I bet she wouldn’t be seeing a 99% so far on metacritic if the album really sucked. So there’s that. I’d rather not argue. ;)

You said it was a nicely crafted pop album but didn't really say what you enjoyed about it other then that if I'm not mistaken.

Also here we go with this review stuff again, if that means anything to you then cool but to me it's not too big a deal.

I'm also not trying to argue either.

I said that I loved how bold and unapologetic this album is, in terms of the themes and what it represents. I also pointed out how I loved that it didn’t sound like her previous records and that she’s continuously making the music she wants to make. In addition to that, I’ve pointed out this album is a bit more concise to me than Electric Lady (I felt it ran a bit too long) and how 14 songs on DC is perfect. I love how eclectic the sound of the record is... there’s pop, R&B, rap/hip-hop, Rock, and Folk as well.. but Janelle’s albums have always been that way. I also feel like it’s her most “honest” record as well. I mean, “Django Jane” by itself was a true shyt talking record and is one of my favorite songs of this year. I’ve never heard Janelle as bold and confident on the mic as I did with that song. And I just think that with this album in general, she’s not holding back and I can respect that. I just really and truly think this album is another great one from her. And if you don’t think that explains why I like the record and if you still wanna say I’m being biased, then I really don’t really feel like having further discussion with you about it. And that’s as honest as I can be.:yeshrug:

Finally watching the film, and it’s really making these songs sound even better than they do. Janelle is looking beautiful as hell too.

Listening to the record and taking what you say into account I can't say you're not being honest or are biased and I take that back, I also respect your opinion. This album is bolder then she ever has been though she always stood out and was different this record is very in your face with the approach she took. Even having lyrics like "I just wanna party hard, have sex in a swimming pool" which is something I could never imagine her saying just some years ago to the point where I wonder if that put off some of her fandroids who liked her for her clean lyrics. She even talks about her p*ssy on the song with pharell :ohhh:She got that grab back she says which had me stuck for a second but anyway, I could also tell this was probably very liberating for her to make trying to hide the fact she is a lesbian for all those years but we always knew it.

Now here is the part where I disagree, I feel partially she reached for commercial appeal with this record, she watered her sound down and overall the album is mediocre off the first listen. I feel she did hold back because she sacrificed her art to make something with more commercial appeal but it doesn't fit her. She had some moments on here I liked like the bridge and last verse on Screwed which had an interesting concept and the song "I like that" but I felt overall she is much better then this and she needs to get back in her bag. I will watch the film to see if that changes anything cause I was a big fan of hers but this album was a let down to me. I can see why you like it but it's not for me so I guess we will agree to disagree.

This album is nothing close to being as good as Electric Lady either with songs like It's Code, Look Into My Eyes, Primetime, Give Em What They Want and I could go on. Sure Electric Lady could have been trimmed a little but I can't complain on the quality on that record like I can on this one. Electric Lady was much richer to me and had more soul while this album seems like she is copying the trend of others and playing it safe sonically which I feel is a step down from her prior work.

Yeah, definitely watch the film and lemme know if you feel the same way about the album. In my opinion, it really brought the songs out even more, and Janelle told her story the way she wanted to. The cinematography is great as well, and was well executed like the music on the album.

I respect your opinion about EL, but I disagree. EL is a great album, and probably the most "urban" sounding album in her discography.. but sounding "urban" doesn't necessarily mean that it's better in terms of quality. I love R&B/Soul.. but I can appreciate different styles and influences too. What makes Janelle great imo, is that she experiments and tries different sounds, and she doesn't keep herself in a box. Also, the melodies and lyrics/storytelling is still in tact. I'm probably in the minority, but I love when talented artists experiment and don't repeat themselves on every single album they release.

With that said, I would take "Can't Live Without Your Love" (my favorite song on EL and one of my favorite songs from her) over anything on Dirty Computer, but an album doesn't consist of just one song..and there are some songs that I could do without on EL like "We Were Rock & Roll", "What An Experience", "Dance Apocalyptic" (I know people probably loved that one, but it's one of my least favorites on that album). So as a whole, I prefer the flow of DC over EL. I would rate her discography as.. The ArchAndroid, Dirty Computer, and then Electric Lady. But once again, all 3 are great in their own ways. Both also show 3 different sides to Cindi Mayweather as well. ;)

We're going to have to agree to disagree about the quality of this record, because I really think it's amazing. I think Janelle has done it again and it further shows how she's one of the most consistent artists of this generation.

I am actually surprised that there are a few people on here that are actually feeling the album, I was expecting the be by myself. lol.
