People talking about this album sounding too pop, but The ArchAndroid had pop elements too. I respect the opinion, but don’t get it. :jbhmm:

“Go back to Wondaland sound” well ok, Wondaland isn’t really limited to just one sound. Janelle isn’t limited to one sound. If you really know Janelle’s music and artistry (including the artists signed to her label), that should be obvious.. So what particular sound is that tbh? If you’re going to disagree, explain your stance with valid points instead of ignoring posts. Lol.

Can't wait for Pitchfork to rate Dirty Computer higher than EL.. and what if they rate it higher than The ArchAndroid too? :sas2:

EL is only being referred to as better on The Coli because it's more "urban" sounding. Which is understandable on a Hip-Hop/urban forum. I also feel like The Coli is the forum disliking this album the most. It's being praised for the most part everywhere else.

Good music is good music, regardless of sound. There's a reason why it's being reviewed better than Electric Lady too, but whatever.

I could just tell, and you kinda hinted at it in your previous post. You just playing hard to get. Haha. Lol! My hugs are always genuine to good people.
Lol I see what you're trying to do but I'm not gonna let you do it :umad:

You took it back, and I never hinted at anything :mjlol:

You good people too though, actually you alright lol.

True, but then again, I was the only one who basically liked the singles leading up to the album. But I always follow my instincts regardless of how other feels, when it comes to music. I can be alone on an opinion, but I don’t care, nor does it phase me. Lol. You’ll learn this about me too, if you don’t know already. ;). It’s ok if you don’t agree or understand. But then again, music conversation would be boring as hell if we all agreed on everything. :yeshrug:
Exactly, we can't always agree but it made for an interesting conversation and made me give the album another chance. I also like that you stood on your opinion even if I didn't understand it, you're hard-headed lol jk but really it's good you stood on what you thought.

Lol! Hmm.. You we're a lot nicer to me before.. what happened? haha!

You said "maybe I did want a hug"... well, well.. (sounds like a hint to me)

LOL! You hard-headed, I could not get you to understand why I felt a certain way. But honestly, the coli is wearing me out tbh. Debating about music is a real work-out. I am trying to understand the opinions of others in here tbh... and people are dapping and making small comments but not elaborating on their stances like you have. I respect your passion and how you gave it another chance after running it back the first time.

I just want people to appreciate music for music. Just because Janelle is black doesn't mean she should be pigeonholed to one sound or make a certain type of music.

I actually enjoyed the back and forth with you, even though you were getting on my nerves at first. LMAO... J/K.

It's corny and she sounds corny. It's not even the subject it's just how much profanity is on the album combined with the thinnly veiled lesbian I'll take your girl shyt. Sounds forced doesn't sound natural. It's obnoxious. She's turned heel. She sold out. She's even mentioning that people like who she portrays herself as but not who she really is. And she fake to? She's done done.

Here's a song she made once upon a Time that hinted at this character that's inside her.

She's singing here about missing out on love because she didn't treat a simp nice who was infatuated with her.

She reflects that she regrets it because dude is now dead and she treated him badly.

The happy ass tone is weird but and out me on notice she was a weirdo.....

Confirmed with this corny ass album.

Well I have a couple points regarding what you said.

Firstly, I know when she came into the game she was real clean and wanted to be a role model but I can't be mad that she decided to let loose and may curse a lot more now. That may be attributed to her growth and not wanting to take on that responsibility as much any more but wanting to be free from that and to do her, or maybe she was only pretending with the clean cut stuff and when she saw it wasn't successful for her she changed. All in all though It's her art and there are people who actually say a lot worse that you listen too so it's not fair to try and put her down cause she uses curse words or talks about her p*ssy lol. There is a space for that kind of talk and it's for a mature audience.

When it comes to the pynk song for instance, I don't find a problem with her trying to embrace her femininity and her love for women especially in the extended version on the DC emotion picture it is what it is. However on Django Jane I too thought it was unnatural and felt Jidenna penned that track cause it doesn't sound like her. It was also cringey the way she spoke on taking your girlfriend but other then that the song grew on me a little.

Why do you say she is fake?

My last point is about that song you posted, that is just as weird as Nelly's song "Down Down Baby" being about going to shoot someone. Goes to show you that with the right beat it's easy to overlook the lyrics. I actually have a copy of the Audition which that song is on somewhere on a drive of mine and maybe on my old ipod touch as well. I listened to that song and thought nothing of it but she picked the wrong beat to make that kind of song over breh, for real! I ain't even gonna hold you lol. It's like the beat is so happy and cheerful and she really needed something more minor with that topic. It's very creepy and disrespectful to even make a song like this period and in light of her coming out as a lesbian or pan sexual maybe there was never even any hope for dude at all if this is based on a real story. Her vocals were good on this but nah, I can't co-sign that song one bit. That's foul she played dude like that and spoke on it after he died.

The string arrangements on “Don’t Judge Me” is what true love sounds like to me.
