I DVR'd her performance on Jools Holland last night .....he had a group of performers each performing one song........Cee Lo Green performing "fukk You", Steve Miller Band performing a song, and then Janaelle came next and she was performing "Tightrope" from her last album....there were 2 other bands after her but i turned it off after that

Anyway, I had mixed feelings about her performance, she got the most applause by far out of the two before her but you could still tell the audience although amazed was feeling the same way I probably felt and you probably feel....It is hard to put into words but something seems "off"...

Especially when she did that whole over the top "let me randomly jump every time on the ground when my song is finished" thing she has been doing lately

by the way man i really like your diverse eclectic taste in music....it seems everytime you are mentioning someone i have not heard of and make me step my game up ...starting with cinematic orchestra can you PM me a list of artists under the radar

That's the thing. People want to like her. She's absolutely stunning. She's got a great smile and a captivating face. Probably the clearest skin I've seen. Most people haven't even heard her speak but she just looks like she's going to say something so damn profound. She has it breh, except the music. It's so disappointing. ..

She doesn't suck, she's honestly very talented but I don't like her...she just doesn't make music for me and that's cool.

I've just come to grips with the fact that she's one of those people that I can look at and see the talent and appeal but can't really fukk with her. I think a big part of it is is that a lot of the older genre's of music she tries to draw from is shyt that I would rather listen to straight up instead of her retro/re-fried version of it...it's almost like she's being crowned for originality via imitating everybody which is kinda weird, but that's what's setting her apart from everybody I suppose so it makes sense.

She is one of those different just for the sake of being different artist. Its not authentic which is why she struggles to win over fans.

Breh I legit gave homegirl props. She's crazy talented which is why I have high expectations for her musically. It could almost be unfair and unrealistic expectations. It could also be the reason why someone like an Andre 3000 hasn't put out a solo joint. When you are versatile sometimes it can end up a big fukking mess with no direction and that's what I get from Janelle.

This, her music screams clusterfukk to me.

When Janelle Monae did Let's Go Crazy during that Prince tribute, I wanted somebody to bumrush that stage, badly.

This woman is the epitome of what I despise about Neo-Soul.

It's good to have influences and have that reflect in your own music, but don't try to fukkin' recreate music that was already done and done better.

The ArchAndroid and her Metropolis EP aren't throwback at all. In fact both are very modern albums with futuristic vibes.

A lot of people can't connect with her personally and that leads them to not like the music IMO.
