They operate under a more or less extreme version of that patriarchal view point. Young Japanese men do. Only they feel they should have to bring even less to the table (while engaging obsessively in their hobbies) than their forefathers while fully expecting a full on perfect looking housewife that will take care of everything, kids, home AND his parents---that overlooks his indiscretions and cheating.
Japanese women both young and old have tons of resentment. The female teachers I worked with were between 21 to around 55 in the school system. If they were older, they resented having to work AND take care of everything at home AND take care of their parents while their husbands only worked and did little else. If they were younger, many refused to even enter into that rat race and merely lived with their parents sometimes into their 30s to avoid marriage or they dated foreign guys.
There has been something very wrong with gender relations in the world which have not helped women in most cultures. It has to be addressed b/c women are now at the point where they not even talking about it anymore. They just saying fukk life and that isn't sustainable.
