But the Grizzlies had the second most rebounds per game last year. #4 in defensive rebounds.

Like conan said, y'alls basketball analysis is antiquated. The Grizzlies don't need JJJ to rebound because they have plenty of guys for that already.
Not at all - that just goes right back to what I was saying.

He's doing *part* of the job.

If those other guys aren't around for whatever reason and they're getting their backs blown out suddenly, it kinda speaks to the fact he's not a true anchor doesn't it?

Man the analysis here is crazy. A big that defends the rim and can hit threes(basically what every team is looking for in the modern NBA) is the least impactful NBA player ever?

Every day I am reminded why I come here for jokes and no real discussion.

He definitely needs to figure out how to play without fouling. That's a big problem and a fair critique

I don't think he's the least impactful player ever but saying he was the DPOY was just as egregious....

Guys are trying to play the "but everyone else rebounded!" card like the Grizzlies didn't have one of the highest paces in the league too. A lot of the smoke the grizzlies caught last year over losing against .500 teams doesn't need to escape him. Again a real quick question of Is JJJ better than Noah? lets you know if someone is tuned in or not.

Yeah AD should've won it that year. He's still a very good defender though. Needs to learn how to defend without fouling so he can stay on the court.

I think there'd be a place for him, but I think his defense is overrated because he can't play defense without fouling and he's not good at what completes a defensive possession, which is rebound.

I think he should be more aggressive on offense because I think that's where he's underrated

Some of the whistles he gets are retarded.

If someone like Lu Dort got JJJ's whistle he'd be out of the game in the 2nd quarter.

And it's very easy to measure his defensive impact: the Grizzlies concede significantly more when he's not on the court. Our defense goes from middle of the field when he is sitting, to elite when he's playing.

It wasn't as egregious, and the numbers backed it up. I wouldn't be mad if AD or Bam got it instead but why the need to shyt on JJJ?

I don't know or care if JJJ is better than Noah. 2 different eras. Noah was a defensive essential for that Bulls team. JJJ is a defensive essential for this Grizzlies team.

Didn’t it come out that the scorekeepers in Memphis gave him extra blocks & rebounds when it should have went to other players?

No that was completely debunked.

I'll exit this thread shortly. But if the thread title was "JJJ is no Joakim Noah/Bam Adebayo/Ben Wallace" then aight y'all got it, cool.

Least impactful player in the league???

Now y'all got it. :pachaha:

@Conan I definitely think Dort should lead the league in fouls:pachaha:

JJJ is gonna get called for at least 1 or 2 fouls that probably weren't fouls. NBA might have the worst refs, right up there with wrestling. Shít, their refs get distracted so easily, you can jump in the ring, hit somebody with a chair, run out the ring and by that time the ref is like "oh shít, how he get knocked out?!?!"

The main criticism isn't about JJJ as an overall defender. It's about his rebounding.

At least wrestling admits to being scripted.

HE WAS OVER 8 HIS FIRST 2 SEASONS N THEN NEVER REACHED THAT AGAIN

HE DOUBLED DOWN ON HIS TEAM REBOUND METHOD
And 8 ain't a good rebounder for a 7'1 280 pound cat. I know Brook has been known as a weak rebounder since he was at Stanford.

He can attack off the dribble with a nice handle and has a mean hook shot.

His rebound rate is similar to Rik Smits :manny: who was 7’4 and no one here would say why was he in the league in fact they’d probably inflate how nice he was and say he’d average 10 boards today :russ:
