In NBA a Hall of Famer can jump the ranks and become a coach more so then the NFL. Magic and Bird werent assitant coaches before they coached,if im not mistaken. (Yea Magic was a coach for a few games).I think Kidd can do it

Big deal, he joined the Knicks the last season of his career. A team which we have only been "rivals" recently. This ain't like Jeter joining the Red Sox.
If we had offered him a deal this summer and he turned it down to join the Knicks than I get it. But he had a choice between Dallas' sinking ship and the Knicks, seems a pretty obvious choice to me if you've got one more shot at a title.

I dont think its that simple. Can Kidd put together a game plan? Is he organized? Etc. I think he should be an assistant first. Coaching is a different beast.
