:comeon: Coaching experience you idiot
:aicmon: Duh you idiot.

The point is that they didn't jump into coaching immediately. They were either assistants or got to see the game from afar and not as a player.

Most Nets fans want Brian Shaw and he has no coaching experience either. But he's been an assistant for years and was tutored by one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Whereas Kidd retired last week and is already trying to make the jump as a head coach. He still has a players mindstate.

Surely you can see why people are skeptical.

Larry Bird was in Boston's Front Office before coaching the Pacers.

Rivers & Jackson were commentators for a couple years before becoming coaches.

None of them immediately jumped into coaching after retirement.

lenny wilkens went from player coach to head coach. Also a front office job and a head coaching job are 2 diff things. ask vinny del negro.

u think brian shaw still doesn't have a players mindstate?? mark jackson?? any former nba player turned coach is gonna have a players mindstate. i dont care if you 1 year removed from the game or 5 years. it makes no difference.

if you expect immediate results with the kidd hiring. i can't help you. But if you look at the big picture. this is a great hire. forget the assistant experience ok. jason kidd has assistant experience by being a player and sitting on the bench. you dont think kidd helps with game planning or saying what he sees on the court?? just because he's in uniform doesn't mean he doesnt have asisstant coaching experience. i look at this kidd hiring as a 3 year plan. year 1- win division and playoff round. year 2- eastern conference finals. year 3 championship squad. there is no reason kidd can't do that. larry bird was an excellent head coach. had 2 great assistants in carlisle and harter. he knew how to let his assistants do their job. most of you doubting the kidd hire wanna win a championship now and dont wanna be patient.

larry bird and lenny wilkens disagree with that.

Ok I see those 2 but magic, isiah, and a few others...I think they are the exception. It seems the middle of the road or road runners like nate McMillan, Scott skiles, danny ainge, doc rivers make better coaches.

my thing is this is a playoff team not a project. what if he flatout can't coach for one reason or another? you have no idea what you're getting. it's a risky risky move, are you going to wait for him to develop as a coach?

Umm how are the nets as currently constructed even going to be a eastern conference finals team...did joe johnson and gerald Wallace retire in this 3yr plan.

Exactly, there's unproven and then there's absolutely no clue what the fukk might happen. What was that Nets coach list looking like if Jason Kidd was the lead candidate?:dead:
